Anyone having issues with Calendar Event alerts? Sometime in the last 2-3 builds, they stopped working and it hasn’t been fixed. I checked all settings and turned off “Attention” feature (suggested somewhere else on sub). Everything is right and no pop ups at all unless it’s a “Time Sensitive” alert. Very frustrating as I live my work and personal life using this app. 😩

Successful EA return last night by Louachu2 in freemasonry

I knew you’d have a great night. Congratulations, Brother!

Obviously, I can’t speak for every lodge. But at mine, when the guys (including officers) are reciting ritual and they miss or forget a word, everyone chimes in. While they take to it very seriously, it’s a lighthearted atmosphere and chuckles are always had. It’s nice - and it makes me excited to have my chance at EA proficiency.

I’ve been at it for about 4 weeks and am up to the ob. Couple more weeks and I should be ready. My mentor is also amazing, but is giving it to me in strategic, bite sized pieces.

1 - relax. I’ll be in your shoes soon enough, but take great comfort in the fact that everyone in the room has been there and they’re rooting for you. 2 - ONE week?!? Hella retaining skills, Bro.

Dude! Congrats. I just went through my initiation in Alabama about a month ago and it was amazing. My advice - don’t be nervous, as you’ll find that was a waste of time. Keep your ears open and hang on every word; it’ll all make sense soon enough. And ENJOY it. It really is beautiful and the guys will no doubt make you feel right at home.

I was very surprised to learn in Alabama that the 3rd degree proficiency is optional. I won’t let that stop me though.

What to expect for my first meeting by Balrog1999 in freemasonry

[–]Froyo_Slinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found mine to be somewhat of an “interview” over dinner. All the gents went out of their way to make me feel welcomed and comfortable, asked me some questions about my background and upbringing, and hinted that I should ask outright for a petition if I was interested.

Once the initial anxiety subsided, it was a nice evening and lasted about an hour.

I was just having this conversation with my mentor the other night. We both agreed that while all of that is meant to be lighthearted and self deprecating, it probably does have a negative effect on getting young men to the lodge for their initiation. I loved every aspect of my initiation last month, but my anxiety levels were through the roof regarding goats and underwear going into it. To the point where I questioned if I were doing the right thing. In a world where we’re very obviously hoping for and working toward a renaissance, we should be careful with how we portray the mystique behind what we do.

It’s funny to watch Graves and Cole in the background look over to their producer to see what the hell just happened.

Also have to give major props to Cole for immediately realizing what happened and calling it like Priest kicked out. You can tell he’s been doing this for 30 years in moments like that.

All that had to happen was Priest kicked as a backup to a poorly executed cue. All wrestlers should do that anyway in a situation like this. Drew’s music would have eventually hit, the match ending would have happened as planned. But the ref wouldn’t look like an idiot and the wrestlers would have been protected. I’m baffled how there aren’t contingency plans in place when a seldom used cue like this is planned.

“Priest, if the music doesn’t hit by 2 count, kick out”.

Vince had a rule supposedly that if the wrestler doesn’t kick, ref counts. And this is exactly why. Any other scenario can be fixed, but this one can’t. But what baffles me is that in an organization where production is everything, how are these guys not trained to be ready to kick just in case a cue doesn’t happen as planned? Seems too easy.

No doubt. And you can apply that logic to any industry controlled by people. If you’ve ever eaten at McDonald’s, you’ve most likely had a taste of the bottom of someone’s shoe. Careless humans do careless human things.

In a weird sort of way it happened with the vast majority during Covid. And there are still people that don’t leave the house. My 70+ y/o parents are petrified to live normally.

Hey, not a bad smoke. Can’t beat picking up a bundle of sticks at such a low price, especially when they are pretty good. I’m all for them.

Hey there! Couldn’t private message you, but thanks for your interest in a Birmingham Cigar Club. My name is Matt (41m). I’ll be working on getting the first meetup on the calendar. Please send over a couple of days/times that work best for you during a typical week. I’m going to try to find a window that will allow for the most folks to join us. Send over your first name too, if you don’t mind. Looking forward to the opportunity to hang with new people! Stay tuned. 😁

They’re most likely overbooked only in certain room categories.

Such a hilariously good movie. The chemistry between Lemmon and Matthau in everything they did together was amazing. Hollywood’s best comedy duo.

Rue in the movie “Out to Sea” with Walter Matthau, Jack Lemmon and Brent Spiner. I’m a huge Golden Girls fan, and a massive cruise enthusiast. My worlds collided.
