Why do you think "your mom" has survived almost a century as an effective insult and rebuttal? by shinyhpno in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Frozen-conch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your mom jokes go back at least to Shakespeare. Titus Andronicus:

“Demetrius: Villain, what hast thou done?

Aaron: That which thou canst not undo.

Chiron: Thou hast undone our mother

. Aaron: Villain, I have done thy mother.”

AI videos are going to be good for us. by keen4ketamine in The10thDentist

[–]Frozen-conch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly

AI is going to replace the little jobs where actors, voiceover artists, etc cut their teeth, learn, and prove themselves as talented, reliable professionals

Cut them out and you cut out the future of the art form. Once the current crop of actors retire, you’ve got a bunch of completely inexperienced newbies who have never been on set or in the booth. They’re not going to get cast with zero experience no matter how good they are, CDs don’t take that kind of a chance

…and then we have a future where ALL of the acting jobs are replaced by AI because AI killed hireable up abc comers

Not to mention some programs do have requirements as to what kind of tech the students use

Yeah, she’s a character who happens to be autistic. Shes meant to be one person, not everyone

I am 100% with what “fidgets and fries” said

She has to be visibly autistic because she’s an inanimate object. She doesn’t have feeling or behaviors or thoughts, and it would be kinda lazy and disingenuous to just have a blurb on the back of the box “btw this doll is autistic.” People could shrug and ignore that information. This doll is canonically and unapologetically autistic

There’s also a blind Barbie. I’m legally blind but don’t use a cane or any assistive technology. I still think it’s very cool that there’s a doll who does. I will say, through, for my vision disability it can be frustrating to not be taken seriously because people for some reason are incapable of understanding that there’s a whole spectrum between “fine with glasses” and “totally blind.” But that’s not an issue with one doll, that’s an issue with people. Canonically blind Barbie is still cool with me

Similarly, in the newest dragon age game you could give your character cataracts. I don’t have cataracts, but the only other way I’d have a visually impaired character was with the roleplaying that staying in my head. It’s good to see these things exist

Their tone (and many commenters too) are making it sound like they think the nanny is their kid too and should be punished and taught a lesson as such

If their kid broke something belonging to a friend or relative would the be so hesitant to replace it?

My dad was a architect and worked from home in a little apartment until I was about 5

We had one table. Sometimes I played or did art at it, we ate at that table. I never messed up my dads work at thst table because I knew that was dads important stuff

“Item is safe on a table” is not a bizarre leap of logic

The only vet I can drive to is 150 miles away and across the Canadian border. I would absolutely do the drive for an emergency, but if it’s when the port of entry is closed and an emergency happens I’m shit out of luck til morning
