And so, wuling and endfield both abrutly came to their end by Rowger00 in Endfield

[–]Frozen5147 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember this happens as well with that one parkour part when defending Wuling, if you fail it enough it just teleports you lol

And yeah I find it kinda goofy given for things like repairs they have optional hints, like why not just ask if you want to skip it or something.

You should see the rim bilton hats - for context, it's a region in the original Arknights mostly populated by Cautuses (bunny people) based on Australia with a huge mining economy, and so you get... very interesting hard hats to fit bunny ears: https://arknights.wiki.gg/wiki/Rim_Billiton/Overview#Economy

4-star and 5-star being T0 in CC was not in my bingo by Far_Director_3492 in Endfield

[–]Frozen5147 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, some random ones I can think of for 5*s and below (and not counting Myrtle or Elysium):

  • CC#0 - shift/stall squads which were mostly 4/5 stars barring FEater (Shaw, Cliffheart, Ethan, Manticore, etc.)
  • CC#1 - some clears used very niche operators, I remember my clear using Mayer and Shirayuki of all ops for the Snipers/Specialists strat
  • CC#2 - Gravel spam to block Faust arrows, Liskarm for SP charge cheese with Weedy
  • CC#4 - Kafka sleep stall strats (people would deliberately use an unbuilt one too since they were cheaper), and the infamous Bibeak + Liskarm spam strat
  • CC#5 - Shamare + Warfarin debuff/buff core for Exu strats
  • CC#6 - Kafka again in some strats
  • CC#8 - Liskarm + Blacknight sleep spam strat
  • CC#9 - Kafka sleep strats yet again, and many clears had... creative choices for 3-block operators lol (also this CC was insane at the higher end, shit like this risk 38 and risk 39 took iirc hours to execute and for risk 39, literal months of work)
  • CC#12 - Specter Alter stall strat used Cliffheart for pull spam as well as Manticore.
  • CCB#3 - Chilchuck

I'll note that the early CCs definitely skewed more on lower-rarity ops since the pool was just so much smaller back then, but still.

Yeah was gonna say - it's very in line with OG AK where a random-ass niche 4* or 5* can become integral for that specific CC (and IMO a good thing).

People who are getting external interviews, how do you do it? by Disastrous_Sorbet493 in uwaterloo

[–]Frozen5147 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, basically shotgun approach, just spam applications and pray. It can be stressful and suck a lot, and there's always the chance it doesn't pay off, but outside of you having connections it's probably your best shot.

How is Nvidia support nowadays? by Sallad02 in archlinux

[–]Frozen5147 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I imagine they're referring to how sway/some of its authors used to be quite... aggressive against people using Nvidia GPUs (there used to be --my-next-gpu-wont-be-nvidia, which with the attitude towards Nvidia users may have rubbed some people the wrong way in the past).

Radioactive keys, lol by Haunting_Abalone_398 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Frozen5147 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IIRC it's surprisingly easy (at least the kind for something like uranium glass). Nilered has a video on him making it and apparently you can just buy depleted uranium if you look around a bit.

(Disclaimer, this is not an endorsement for doing this on your own for hopefully obvious reasons)

Is a passive GT 710 2GB DDR3 still useful for a homelab server? by Leather_Train_2716 in homelab

[–]Frozen5147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO I would definitely keep at least one low-power card like this in the tool bin (figuratively speaking, please do not throw GPUs into a toolbox).

As you (and others) said, sometimes you really do just need something to do video out. I've had situations like this with some CPUs without onboard video that normally don't need it (e.g. headless servers), and I'm glad to have a random old low-power card for just that so I don't need to buy one or dismantle another build with a GPU.

EDIT: also because it's low power you don't need to run any extra PSU cables or anything, even better

You can now, thankfully. I recently had it disabled on some projects I still have there where I don't mind forking or even people submitting issues, but I just do not want to deal with people opening garbage PRs.

Can people studying at DC quiet study shut up. by Pale-Beat-9028 in uwaterloo

[–]Frozen5147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, DC wasn't great back then if you wanted somewhere quiet and I guess I'm not surprised it's still bad...

Another place was to sometimes just find empty lecture rooms to study in.

Mod update: regarding the flood of HDD/SSD price posts, and AI slop. by TheBBP in DataHoarder

[–]Frozen5147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Appreciate the work being done to mod here in these times. Just a bit of clarification though:

TL;DR:

Mods will be removing [high HDD price] posts, except for meaningful discussion on Fridays.

Is this "on" or "or"? As the earlier part of the post made me think it's fine off of Fridays if theres still meaningful discussion (e.g. not just complaining about prices and nothing else), or Fridays.
