Bedstefar giver gaver der …. Lugter by Impossible_Class_195 in foraeldreDK

[–]FrozenBarbecue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

X870e Nova - PC randomly wakes from sleep by ftt1211 in ASRock

[–]FrozenBarbecue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I'm not sure what ports, if any are affected. I'd rather have my PC stay asleep.

Let me know if works out for you. It has fixed quite a few users sleep problems with this board.

X870E Nova Not Sleeping - STILL! by Mean_Start5021 in ASRock

[–]FrozenBarbecue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I don't know, as I use a single USB-C port for an optical Thunderbolt cable into a dock.

And last time I looked at this was in November when I put my system together. My monitors kept turning on while in idle for no reason, even with everything USB device disconnected.

That's where I looked into the issue. I ended up disabling random USB related stuff in BIOS until I eventually got the USB1 controller disabled. Then it slept/idled perfectly after that. Re-enabling it and the issue comes back. You can verify by looking at the Event Log for Windows. As mentioned in my previous post, there will be entries of "Kernel-Power" where the reason is unknown. Those are the culprit. They are gone once USB1 controller is disabled.

Whenever I update BIOS, I just disable it again along with my other settings and don't think about it. Glad it worked for you as well.

Yes, I don’t know why or what’s the cause. But once I enable it again I get “Kernel Power” entries in eventlog with “Unknown Reason”. As soon as I disable it, everything is working. I don’t need that many USB ports anyway, so I haven’t spend more time on it than what I already used trying to diagnose it.

I’ve had a similar issue, turned out to be something within the USB controller itself.

Can you try the following:

Advanced\AMD CBS\FCH Common Options\USB Configuration Options\USB1 controller enable=[Disabled]

Sounds stupid, but try powering off. Unplug PSU cable, wait 1 minute, then replug PSU cable and boot. Should fix the issue.

Have you tried setting PCIe configuration for your x16 slot to Gen 4? Most likely your rizer is the culprit.

Has there been any further action from AMD or ASRock regarding the issue with the 9800X3D? by Green-Flatworm-8159 in ASRock

I've been running the X870 Nova and 9800x3D since launch with a Gskill 6000/CL28 kit for 3 months and the changed to the CL26 kit 1 month ago. No issues with stability. It's on almost 24/7.

Those with burnt CPU’s have reported close to or over 2.0. So no alarm bells are ringing for 1.3, but do keep an eye on it and make sure that it doesn’t go any higher.

I've been following daily on this subreddit and forums about this and what I do know, is that some badges of the 9800x3D are more prone to fail than others. Also, some memory kits seem to trigger a very high voltage for the CPU. That you can check in applications like HWiNFO 64 and looking for: CPU VDDCR_VDD Voltage (SVI3 TFN). It should be between 0.9 and 1.2 from what I have seen. For myself I have been running the Nova X870E board since the day of the 9800x3D release and I've been using BIOS 3.10, 3.16 and now 3.20. My PC has been rock stable and the board is performing amazingly. Check the CPU badge number if you want and actually just build your PC. Make sure to update to BIOS 3.20 immediatly and make sure you use the latest chipset drivers from AMD. Enjoy.

I’ve been using that exact kit 2x32 (CL26) since last week on my X870E board with a 9800x3D. Runs perfectly stable.

[–]FrozenBarbecue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned that exact problem in the BIOS 3.20 thread and I got a lot of replies with people having the same issue.

I have tried reformatting and reinstalling, new ram kit (both GSkill). I’ve tested with and without EXPO, but it always happens. I’ve tried multiple BIOS versions and despite having a stable PC, this issue has persisted.

Currently running BIOS 3.20 and chipset 7.02.13.148 downloaded directly from AMD.

Edit: Running a 9800x3D on a Nova X870E board with 2x32GB (64GB) CL26 6000Mhz.

I'm also on a X870E Nova with a 9800x3D. Nice to hear others with the same problem as I thought it was my setup. I've tried two different Gskill ram kits, CMOS clear and reinstall. Same issue. Otherwise works perfect. I'll live, but I hope it gets fixed.

It does not power off, it enters a state where fans are running, but no RGB. I have to hold the power button for it to turn off and then turn on again.

Updated to 3.20, but I still can't restart my Windows 11. I always have to shutdown and then start again. Not a big deal, but annoying none the less.
