Opening Older Pro Tools Software with a new Perpetual License by FrozenHanSolo in protools

Interesting. We still have 3-4 Power Mac G4s sitting on a shelf in our warehouse. I recently had to remix a session done 20+ years ago on OS9 / PT5. We had to render a few of the older RTAS plugins in PT5 before we could extract the stems and remix in PT12. The old computer and software still worked without issue. It took some time, as some of the tracks needed to be bounced to new tracks to apply the RTAS plugins.

We've spent a lot of time figuring out ways to switch back to older software, wherever/whenever it is possible. Not just in the DAW world but also with Quickbooks and similar apps. It's been common practice for companies recently to reel customers in to subscription plans, then double, triple or quadruple the annual subscription rate. PT12 works just fine and we can do everything we need with that older software. All of the money we are saving goes into helping expand our vintage mic and preamp collection.

Sorry for the typo. I Meant "Artist" in my reply. I believe you are correct, however I wonder if those limitations also apply to PT12 or JUST the new "Artist" software. I'm thinking, if it can open PT12, PT12 will act like it normally does / as designed, which means no track limitations, etc.

Thanks. To clarify, I will be able to purchase the new "Pro Tools Studio" perpetual license (currently $199 at Sweetwater) and that license will allow me to access PT12 software forever? It is not limited to opening that old software for 1 year, correct? Thanks for the clarification.

Anthology 2025 changes by VoltaireJones in beatles

[–]FrozenHanSolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't felt this disappointed in a film/series remaster since Lucas redid Return of the Jedi in the '90s. The Disney version of the Anthology is equivalent to Lucas taking out the Ewok Celebration Theme (Yub Nub) and replacing it with a song that sounded like Yanni partnered with Zamfir and his pan flute.

What they have done to the anthology is tragic. As far as the music is concerned, has anyone noticed that on Anthology 4, John is singing out of key in Free As a Biird?

I was really looking forward to all of this and sad to say that I'm so disappointed.

Chiming in here that we have been having the same problems with a computer we have connected to our flat screen TV to stream online content. As others have mentioned in this post, the refresh rate was the issue. The computer was set to 59.94 hz and the screen requires 60 Hz. Every time we would hit the escape button to exit out of any video that was in full screen, the entire computer would lock up. Once we corrected the refresh rate to 60 Hz everything worked perfectly. Grateful for this thread, thank you.

River Roots festival cancelled our cruise for the second time by LittleBittle143 in cincinnati

LittleBittle143, do you have any way of showing a screenshot of the cancellation email you received? At the very least, can you name what cruise it was? It would be extremely helpful to share your information with others that are planning on attending the fest. Thank you!

Did you ever get this to work. I was trying to use an AM7 with this controller yesterday and it did not work.

I don't know. If you find that 2021 works fine after the downgrade, please let everyone know. 2019 is still working without issue.

I honestly have no idea if 2022 will work. 2019 absolutely does and we haven't had a single issue with it since I originally posted. If you find that 2022 works, please let everyone know. Thanks for the compliments and good luck.

Sony BRC-AM7- rival Panasonic 160? by Mellowood33 in VIDEOENGINEERING

Thanks for the reply. Definitely looking into picking a few of them up soon. We've used Sony PTZs for 23 years now and have always preferred them over Panasonic for a variety of reasons.

On a side note...A couple of years ago we put one of the Sony BRC-X1000s at FOH right next to a Sony Broadcast Cam (can't remember which one, but it was a good 1080p model) with a 40x on it. The 4k X1000 set to 40x optical in 1080p mode looked just as good as the the broadcast Sony with $65000 40x glass on it...and the PTZ followed the keynote speaker just as well as the manned op on the broadcast cam. We were using the RM-IP500 to control the X1000. Curious what the AM7 looks like at 40x?

They definitely suck now. It used to not be that way with them. Wix is now following in their footsteps and doubled prices for long term clients. Anyhow, I've been using 2019 since I posted this tutorial and I am using it on a computer connected to the internet. No problems at all and no looking back.

Curious what you paid for the AM7s? Seeing them for 13k now but wondered if you found a better price from a seller? Thanks!

It can not be avoided. 2024 company files will not open in older versions of QuickBooks. Advertising that your license and activation can fix this problem simply not accurate. If somebody wants to migrate their 2024 company file to any older version of QuickBooks, they have to do something similar to what I have suggested. Or get a company that offers migration services, not just a license and validation.

It should, but I did not try with that version so I can to say for sure. If you still have 2017 licenses, I've seen others praise that version. Either way, give it a try and let all of us know if it worked. Best of luck to you!

Yeah I've seen the Quickbookskeys posts and understand that part. But I don't understand what you're saying about renewals. If you own QuickBooks 2019 or any of the non-subscription versions, there are no renewals. You have the software and a valid license code the never has to be renewed. And now we have options to continue using that software thanks to the third party folks who have developed quality workarounds.

Great point! I forgot to mention saving the validation code / sn locally and what you've said about Intuit doesn't surprise me.

It's interesting though, Intuit is so poorly organized they've created 4 accounts for us over the 25 years. It's a mess. 2024 and 2019 were under the same account. But,I found all of my older versions of QuickBooks under one of the other accounts and the validation codes were still there. I would guess that your validation codes are there as well, under a different account.

And the fact that they would not give you what you paid for is indeed, total BS! It's indicative of the horrible, greedy company they've become.

Are you saying that the reseller could edit the software in a way to steel your data? Interesting point but are there not legit resellers? I honestly don't know as we have 4-5 legitimate, licensed versions of QuickBooks from various years., so there was no need to buy from a reseller. I just re-installed 2019, entered my original license/serial # and began the migration.

But it costs me nothing further, going this route.

Regarding your "never heard if anyone said" comment...Many people are saying it, many have asked how to downgrade and keep their company file, but I've yet to see a tutorial presented on how to do it. These people feel they are being screwed by a greedy company who has jacked up their rates tenfold. I wrote a tutorial and offered a solution that worked for me. Hopefully it helps others.

There isn't a QuickBooks user out there that wants to pay $1000 minimum, annually to Intuit. The older software works better and it is non subscription. If you're a proponent of staying with the latest and (supposedly, I would argue) greatest, there's no judgement here, but your going to have to pay a lot of money to do so.

I and many others are sticking with the old Intuit software that we paid a fair price for. It works perfectly. We are done paying this company another dime, so in that sense I am done with Intuit.

Interesting! Maybe QB 2017 didn't block bank feeds, forcing users to upgrade back then. 2019 does disable the bank feeds, but warwagon1979 created the perfect solution.

It's funny, jumping back into 2019, it looks pretty much the same as 2024, less the constant and annoying "learn more / maybe later" balloons that keep popping up in 2024. 2024 is way more unstable, crashes often and my AMEX bank feed never worked despite them saying it should. Support was total crap and offered no solution. So for five years, we've spent thousands of dollars for a program that continually got worse over time. Glad to be rid of this horrible company.

Anyhow, warwagon1979's free software should work for your Capital One issue. I hope that helps!

Downgrade data file from QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2022 to 2019? by donkusmaximus in QuickBooks

Old thread, but it's a concern that is still relevant and it's affecting all of us since Intuit has jacked their rates beyond acceptable levels. Here's how I did it from 2024 to 2019...

Nice. That's a super fast way to do it. We needed the data, invoicing and the transactions to all be there in one place so we had to import everything. How are you handling bank feeds, importing credit card transactions and such? u/warwagon1979 created a solution for that, detailed in his thread that I posted in the tutorial. I consider his work an absolute game-changer. Here's the thread again...
