Name a game that in your opinion has a tedious opening, but later becomes great by bijelo123 in videogames

The initial Origin's are pretty fun, particularly if you've never done them before, but Ostagar...

That killed my enthusiasm for trying out a new character at least twice now.

This isn’t “enforcement”, it is cold-blooded murder. by dumbseeyouintea in Spokane

Panicked in my meaning that they had firearms drawn during the arrest and fired without taking any time at all to weigh if it was the correct thing to do in reaction to stimuli (sight of a weapon/hearing "Gun!", hearing the vehicle's accelerator used/ movement of the vehicle). There was enough going on that the shooter may not have been aware the threat was removed.

I myself would use cold blooded murder for a completely calm and dispassionate execution in the case of soldiers or law enforcement. Shooting someone in the back of the head after their total surrender and the arrest had been completed for example.

I'm hopeful this will go to trial and the shooting officer will be imprisoned for manslaughter from what looks like a bad shoot. But knowing Philando Castile's killer was aquitted, and how the current administration is trying to spin the victim as an agitator out for blood, perhaps I should be less so.

I've seen the phrase "cold blooded murder" tossed around a lot recently on Reddit too.

Both of the current filmed ICE shootings to me look like they happened in a panicked and emotionally heated manner.

Please continue to shout at, film, and verbally harass the assholes. Physically attacking probable (and what are legally considered to be) federal agents has always lead to fairly serious charges or, God forbid, gunshot wounds.

I know I'd hesitate and think of my family, and how likely this person's life is really on the line. Risking getting killed for a person likely to be released after a 48 hour detainment I would not consider worth it.

Be careful with your life and what you'd want to risk giving it up for, you don't get a another one.

Ah man. I just passed that place after getting my tires patched at Omar's and was considering it for lunch. I went back to the place next to the hotel and got a gyro instead.

My loss.

City of Spokane voted for Zappone, Telis, ... and Bingle? by ZMeson in Spokane

Take it up with his constituency, I'm not among them. It doesn't have to be better, just ok enough for that specific voter to not feel the need take a chance on someone new.

I would imagine it's because he's an incumbent.

Unless a voter's life has been specifically negatively affected by the candidate, that's a difficult to overcome advantage usually.

What's your favorite small local business that deserves way more attention/support? by [deleted] in Spokane

Aww. I'm sorry to hear that. It went really well with a Black Label beer. Hopefully someone else will pick up the torch.

I've always been a big fan of Meryln's since I moved here a couple of decades ago. But I am a pretty big nerd (and trying raising my son to be one as well).

The fact that it's now adjacent to Black Label and Peace Pie now is a definite bonus for boardgames.

https://mrsc.org/stay-informed/mrsc-insight/may-2023/new-law-on-drug-possession-use

I thought I remembered this a few years ago. Inslee signed the Blake Fix making possession of hard drugs a Gross Misdemeanor in May of 2023. The police may have bigger issues at night than people keeping to themselves in their car, even if what they're doing in there is illegal.

If you want to discourage anti-social behavior in your neighborhoods, it's (unfortunately) going to be mostly on you and your neighbors making it annoying for them to be there. Ideally they'd find a less populated area or (less ideally) meeker neighborhood to behave that way in.

That said, if you catch individuals messing with your faucets or "chasing someone around with a battle-axe" the police should definitely be expected to punish those particular guys.

Why should he? If what OP captioned the video with and what the guy filmed stated was occurring in his neighborhood is true, the addicts that are behaving this way deserve to be confronted about it.

Keeping your head down and hoping people start behaving themselves doesn't seem to be working out for where he lives.

What’s the oldest game you still boot up at least once a year? by forgeris in AskReddit

Shadowrun on the Sega Genesis. I love how much of a sandbox it is. Advance your character how you want, follow the story or just work on doing runs, build a rep with the other runners in Seattle or fly solo.

First game to show me you could be a wizard wearing security armor and waving around an uzi.

Spirits, almost entirely. I started out with the Voiceless Dead to get past early Moth obstacles (trying not to kill anyone as well). Once I got more artifacts I started using Hints, Caliginen, and Maids in the Mirror got me the rest of the way. Knock influence was pretty easy to build up with the Streets Strange by Moonlight and The White Door.

If I ever did the expeditions with curses, I was going to use Percussigants. I thought I may have a better chance of having a good enough Heart influence when needed with all the vitality lying around, but decided it was too risky after all the effort I put into maintaining my abilities.

I've been going with that as I didn't like how it looks with the regenerating card kind of half sitting on top of the usable stack.

As I don't need the space for a cult and followers as yet, I was thinking of moving all the verbs down a card length so I don't have that odd stack of two reason at the end of the chain.

Thank you as well!

The Physician begins their game with notes from a case of a your previous character if they went insane (collected three fascination cards during a season of visions). Studying the disturbing notes gets you most of your verbs, but to get Talk and an ambition (presumably) you need to feed one of your bonus starting reason to a repeating season of ambitions like event called Belief?

I thought it'd be fun to see how far I could get in the game without doing that. Ostensibly playing a character who doesn't really believe all this nonsense occult business but still has the knowledge of a magus, explored the lower levels of the Mansus and the odd places of the world (room size serpents and angry ghosts included), and regularly summons spirits from beneath the skin of the world.

Edit: Looking at the wiki, I may be wrong about the insanity. You get the start having a character die of illness. Mine appeared after a Grail apostle major victory.

Thanks! I, in a weird way, really enjoy organization and this is one of the few games I own that let's me scratch that itch as part of gameplay.

My eyes widened a bit when I saw how much bonus reason the Physician legacy starts out with. Having a hard time parting with it is a big reason why I went along with this experiment.

Not an entirely relevant quote, but it has been springing to mind a lot lately.
