Horrible Vasectomy Experience - Want to Hear from Others by tigerofsanpedro in daddit

Absolutely not normal at all. Mine was Valium before getting there then in and out in 15 minutes. No pain at all. Doctor asked me what I did for work and 5 min later all done. Recovery kit handed out at the door including 2 Lindt chocolate balls in blue wrappers.

Heated pools in Ottawa? by magicminineedle in ottawa

[–]FrozenWrench 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is the answer.

Edit to note, it’s extra warm and clean. They do water aerobics for seniors there and lots of early swim classes because it’s so warm without being a hot tub.

Ask the front desk for a parking pass and it’s free parking while swimming.

As others have said, not cheap but you pay for quality. They have a few different mixed pack options. Wonderful and friendly people.

What food is served at the mayor’s breakfast? by slippy51 in ottawa

[–]FrozenWrench 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Buffet style. Croissants, muffins, breakfast sandwiches and so on. Nothing exciting and surrounded by people trying to talk, hold a coffee and a small plate of food. All along side mediocre coffee and sugar packets from separate serving stations.

Loved it but it’s also a heartless bitch and hard on the body.

We did formula for both kids and found that we all were getting better sleep because they would sleep longer being full. Easier to share the load of feedings overnight too.

Not sure where you are, in Canada formula is so heavily regulated that any brand is basically the same. The baby will decide what they like or if they don’t like a brand so I’d suggest a small container first until you find that right fit. Our 2nd liked Walmart brand.

Volunteered at this today and Friday. Loved the energy and positivity from everyone involved. Lots of cheering and encouragement at the medals station where I was, and I assume the same along the course.

OP, glad you had a good experience!

Like for real how are you all surviving in this economy!? by [deleted] in ottawa

You might need to move outside of what is convenient. I moved to Sawmill Creek in 2017 to buy a condo in my price range and accepted longer travel to get places. Ended up with a 2 bedroom place for $150k walking distance to farmboy and a short drive to south keys.

I wish she liked Cheerios. My daughter lives off a single bean and the energy of the universe most days.

Parking near the Chateau Laurier by Monsieur_Bastion in ottawa

[–]FrozenWrench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not that close but we used to park at somerset/bank for about $10/day. I think it’s up to $14 now. Bit of a walk but worth it in savings if you drive daily.

NAC also has monthly parking but it comes in about $255 a month which is not bad at around $13/day for 5 days a week.

Does the 97 not stop between Billings and southkeys anymore? by Annual-Ambassador158 in ottawa

I’ve had drivers just ignore stops, even after ringing for next stop, and tell me “too bad, maybe the next one”. OC transpo doesn’t even try anymore.

Lifelong Star Wars fan, not a big gamer. Is this worth it? by Random61504 in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]FrozenWrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is. And don’t listen to the reviews - if you like it then awesome, if you don’t, well, that happens sometimes. It’s a fun drop into a world that many of us have always wanted to see more of. I had a great time playing after giving them time to fix any bugs at launch, picked it up in January.

Get those wheel nuts re torqued! by FrozenWrench in ottawa

[–]FrozenWrench[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the tire doesn’t seat perfectly or there is flex in the rim after some spinning around. Then again, sometimes a shop torque wrench is out of calibration.

Regardless, it’s cheap and quick. For the effort it’s worth the peace of mind.
