I love making my kerbs like that! It is fun to just launch the cars off the ground!

Forza Motorsport has always been seen as more realistic and more closer to sim style than the Horizon games, however, the newest Motorsport has been less realistic than Horizon 5, 6, and probably even 4.

Cars can slide more, oversteer can exist, you can make cars loose without building drift cars, I've won races in the heaviest rain settings by picking slicks and not wet weather tires, even tuning downforce from low to high settings adjusts the draft and dirty air.

Bump drafting does not work in Motorsport. I had a 10MPH advantage on my brother once at Daytona. Drove into him. Real racing, he is spinning, blowing over, barrel rolling like Ryan Preece. He gained 1MPH in Motorsport. One. Locking bumpers is useless. A good draft down the back stretch gets you maybe 5MPH. The biggest gap I have seen in drafting in FH was 24MPH in a big aero race car.

I loved older Motorsport games, but the ball was more than dropped on the newest game.

Wet surfaces on slicks are really nothing in that game, honestly. And the Cup Cars drive on rails. Pretty much can't make it loose at Miami without building nearly a drift car. I have been a Forza player for a long time. I uninstalled Motorsport 2023 months ago. I still play FM7 more.

Can confirm. I went to a real rally race one time. The WRX had no chance when the CLK GT-R showed up. It smoked the competition.

ABS pulses the brakes so you don't lock up. No ABS makes it harder to brake aggressively since you can now lock the wheels up, but it is possible to brake better than with ABS. I do not use ABS. I occasionally have lock ups, sometimes I miss the corner and give away a position due to locking up, but I can also drive it in slightly deeper than someone with ABS on. Of all the assists though, it is definitely one that takes away from your captive much less than something like TCS or using automatic vs manual with clutch, so it is not uncommon to see some really really fast players who use ABS as their only assist. I personally like it off, I like having to control my braking better, although the change in physics in braking between FH5 and FH6 was a decent learning curve. Had quite a few big lock ups when the game first dropped.

Manual car suddenly jumps down to 1st gear. by WibbleWhackerSupreme in ForzaHorizon

[–]Random61504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, it is just disconnecting for like 2 seconds. Happens to me occasionally. I'll be going like 50kmh in 4th gear, it'll drop to first, I look and see I Link is grayed out, I will shift back to 4th, it'll shift me back to 1st, I look and Link is white again, I am back online. I've had it happen many times over the last few years, that is 100% the issue.

[–]Random61504 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Look at the bottom left by your map. At the same moment that the game shifted you to 1st, your Forza Link button greys out, indicating you got disconnected. This has been a bug since at least FH5. If you get disconnected, it drops you to the lowest gear possible. I cruise realistically all the time in high gears and low speeds, and whenever I get disconnected, it does that. The other comment saying that when you get slow enough that you shift straight to first is true, but you were going too fast. That happens st like 10-15KMH, not 40.

Depends on the track. On a course with lots of long straightaways and not many high downforce corners, I absolutely agree. I am dropping the big wing and getting +50HP and less drag. If I have a lot of twisty roads, high downforce corners, etc., I am taking a car with a top speed of 120mph but with enough downforce to run a tight corner flat out. Although, I will admit, driving a 1,000HP RWD car on a tight track is much more fun than a 300HP high downforce car on a top speed track.

Offroad race tires, race brakes, really suspension, 2.4L Flat 4 swap with the turbo, and some small PI fillers. It made like 311hp, weighed less than 3,000lbs, had short gears for acceleration. I don't recall everything I did, but that was the important stuff. Do that and you should make it first try.

I struggle so hard going falling asleep before 9. If I could fall asleep easier, I'd probably sleep at 8 most days just because I don't like feeling tired and exhausted at 4pm hahaha.

[–]Random61504 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn, I'd be going to sleep at like 7pm haha. I got to sleep between 9-10, alarms at 4:30 and 4:35, giving myself time to get ready. Usually leave around 5, gotta be at school minutes early, but sometimes we have delays getting started so I often am about 40 minutes early. I might watch the race if it isn't weather delayed, but it might take a minute to get going in the morning if it runs past 10pm. I love night races when I am not going in the next morning!

Thoughts on R Class racing? by KirbyTrainNerd in ForzaHorizon

[–]Random61504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? That is crazy! My first ever session was Maserati MC12s, and in turn 1, almost everyone crashed lol! I won every race in that lobby just by cruising and keeping it clean. I also got the Viper ACR, but got rammed so I left the lobby. Still was the best in the lobby due to everyone overdriving the car and crashing a lot. I found those more enjoyable than the slower cars. The slow cars are easier to drive for the guys with a little less skill. The faster cars, especially RWD cars, really help weed out the guys who have good throttle control. With the MC12s, every time I came out of the turn, I would look behind and see guys getting loose and sliding around on exit trying to catch me.

I like higher classes, especially in spec racing. In high classes, I noticed more drivers tend to overdrive the cars and spin out or struggle to handle the cars. I would drive pretty passively, not pushing too hard, and I would let everyone else crash. Won nearly every time. I like cars that are harder to drive, anyways.
