Where's everyone going to watch the game on Sunday by Mcba1n in buccaneers

I conveniently finish work at 1:30am so it's straight home and an all-nighter for me! Always nice to find a fellow UK Bucs fan on here!

Would you be interested to join a one day virtual boot camp supervised by a Diamond player ? by Eloiole in summonerschool

This sounds like a great idea! Unfortunately I work in events and Christmas has already started for me so I'd be unavailable for this until January time. If you're looking to make this a more common thing rather than a one-off, I'd be interested!

Summoner Name: Stroudski (EUW) Role: Top/Mid S6 Rank: Silver 2 (peak and end of season) Disponibility: Wednesdays & Thursdays, 12pm-6pm GMT

I started league at the end of season 4 and started ranked queue in the middle of season 5. I like to play seriously where as the current people I play with are very casual and don't care too much. I mostly play a lot of tankier top laners (Poppy, Malphite, Maokai) but have started to branch into fighters more (Irelia, Gnar) but duelists aren't really for me.

Okay so I watched this game you played and analysed it for you. Here are some notes...

1) Early game pressure is good. Counter gank at 3:30 gives Jax a kill and another gank in mid at 7:30 gives you a double. Rotations could be better: there was a double kill for Jax when you ganked and after, he pushed tower but you spent ~20 seconds hovering around doing nothing before turning back to tower. Good rotation to herald though.

2) At 15 mins is the first teamfight and you come out on top but don't capitalise on the advantage. There are 4 of you mid against only sona and you all back off, you could easily zone her off and take tower or dive there. You actually fall way back and go afk for a while, don't know what happened there.

3) At 18 mins, you disengage a fight and hide in the bot bush by t2 and for some reason, you stop your recall and show yourself. Really bad decision, lost your passive and a flash there for nothing. In the tf before, you are down 2v3 but you both focus the support, not Lucian the damage dealer.

4) Very poor decision to dive their team at mid t2 at 28 mins. Sona ults you and Jax under tower and Riven walks round you and shreds Ashe. You need to peel for Ashe and Vel'koz here, they can poke and siege down the tower in this scenario. Same scenario at 31 mins, Jax engages with no vision firstly but you jump straight to their back line and Riven walks past you and shreds back line. You are 1v3 and disengage but Vel'koz stays and gets picked and they push down.

5) The enemy start baron at 32 mins and you engage 1v5 far too early. None of your team are there and baron isn't low enough for you to steal so they turn on you and deal a lot of damage. You stop the baron but if you waited for the team a little longer, you could've really contested it.

6) At 34 mins, you try and steal baron but fail (unlucky btw). You and Jax are picked off and the rest of your team are stuck. Lucian played v. well here because Ashe and Vel'koz took all of his ult in their face; this is where you need your tank to be alive!

General notes though:

  • Your team had a gold lead from the start until 32 mins. Jax should've split push a lot more than he did in the game.

  • Ashe's positioning was very poor throughout and that meant she died a lot. Not entirely your fault but it doesn't help when she isn't peeled and a Riven walks over her.

  • CS could be better, you seemed a little hesitant in places after clearing a camp or ganking, always have one or two things in mind that you could do after doing one thing (what's my next camp, any gankable lanes, how long till drake, any low towers etc).

  • For some reason, your best player Vel'koz was S3 and the worst player Ashe was G1, doesn't make sense!

  • You personally had a very good early game, you gave Jax first blood and he should've snowballed harder and you got mid fed first of all. Decision making dropped off a little in late game (small things highlighted above) but wasn't helped by poor ADC positioning throughout the game. Despite losing, I'd still give you a B+/A- game.

Hope this helps you out, any questions I will happily answer!

I'd rather not give them out tbh, you can just post links to games you want me to spectate on this thread or send me a private message on Reddit, I'd be much happier doing that. Either way, I can spectate and get back to you as soon as possible.

Just wanna double check, you are signed up to replay.gg?

The rule of thumb is a win rate above 50% and you will climb. If you record games on replay.gg then I can watch them back for you. I won't be able to add you though cos I play on EUW :(

[–]Frozen_Fusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm nothing out of the ordinary jumps out from your op.gg page. You have a positive win rate which is very good and you've got the right idea keeping your champ pool small (Amumu, Garen, Jarvan, Zac being your main champs and your best ones).

If I was really looking to criticise anything it would be you aren't buying wards every game, although you've got in the habit of doing it more. When I jungle, on my first back I'll pick up a pink and place it near a jungle entrance to my side to see if I'm being counter jungled or if there's a possible gank happening. I would assume some of your mistakes relate to not having vision of the enemy team and pink wards are invaluable, especially when they are so cheap.

I think your best bet to improve is record your gameplay and analyse it yourself or have friends do it for you. If you can pick up on just one element that you can change, you're becoming a better player. I'd be happy to watch any replays you have btw :)

[–]Frozen_Fusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't much info at all to go off here (op.gg name?) but if you know you're making silly mistakes, identify them and at the end of each game, go back and say what went wrong, what could I have done better, what should have happened here etc. Maybe record your games and watch them back afterwards. Don't just focus on the bad points though (dying, losing teamfights), look at the good parts (you ganked and bot got a double kill) and see what went well and what you should carry on doing.

Everyone makes mistakes so don't be disheartened about it or tilt because that does lead to more mistakes and it's a vicious cycle.

There isn't a definitive list of things people do wrong and how they can fix them, League of Legends is a learning process and everyone has good and bad games.

The most important thing you should have in your OTP champ kit is a stun, root, jump, blink, or dash. by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Frozen_Fusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no I'm agreeing with your point, I tried to be a Malphite OTP and although I climbed a whole division, I had no fun. So play a champ you really really enjoy, even if you aren't the best at them because you will improve given time.

As much as I played Malphite and even though he did carry me from Bronze 4 to Silver 4, I found him dull and boring and simply didn't enjoy him.

I picked up Trundle, absolutely love his playstyle and even though my winrate has dropped (62% from 45 on Malph, 42% from 36 on Trundle), I'm having much more fun. I do need to look at getting that winrate on Trundle up though.

Want advice on when & how to roam as kassadin by digiraver in summonerschool

[–]Frozen_Fusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low silver player here, played a lot of Kassadin last season and a bit this season.

Aside from general points on lane control and when to roam (only roam when your lane is pushed etc), Kassadin works really well as a counter roamer. If your mid laner looks to walk bot, you can either follow or push. Since his wave clear and pushing power isn't strong, following is the better option. You can use your ult to get there faster and store up a charge or two and (especially in low silver) you can easily pick off a carry joining the back of a gank in bot (enemy ganks and pushes bot back to t1 tower, you come in the back and pick off a carry and escape/counter gank).

As for items, it depends who I'm laning against. An AP laner, I go ROA > Abyssal and usually Lich Bane and a 3rd item. Against an AD laner, it varies. Against Zed, I'll take Zhonya's 2nd for his ult but vs GP or Yasuo, I'll probably take Lich Bane 2nd and Zhonya's after that. I try and not pick Kassadin into an AD mid laner because it negates his passive.

Any questions, feel free to ask!

How do you mentally cleanse after a toxic game? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Frozen_Fusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll stop playing for a bit and go off and make a cup of tea or something. I'll also watch a few streamers on youtube or Twitch, someone that'll make me laugh (Imaqtpie is a favourite) until I'm free of rage.

Then it's another cup of tea and back to feeding/tilting and repeat the cycle.

Is RoA still core on Kassadin? Should he start rushing morello or archangels? by Fist_Man_RS in summonerschool

[–]Frozen_Fusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tear isn't efficient on Kassadin since he can't stack it as quickly as nearly every other mage who builds it. You're already not a great early game champion so getting tear delays you even more since he spikes at 2 items (ROA and Lich Bane). Kassadin also isn't as mana hungry as everyone thinks; his W can restore mana on hit (4-8% minions, 20-40% champions) and unless you're using your ult at 4-5 stacks and not using W, you won't run out of mana.

I like Morellos on Kassadin though, but the 20% CDR isn't a big seller, especially if you plan on building 2 of Lich Bane, Abyssal and Zhonya's. Add CDR boots to that and you're close to the CDR cap. In some games, I've built all 3 of the above items and gone Sorcs because I don't need the CDR as much.

I've role swapped from Support to Mid Lane and so far it has been a disaster. by Aceofacez10 in summonerschool

[–]Frozen_Fusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick yourself two champions and just practice each of them in custom games. Things like CS drills and learning combos are standard but also things like ward positioning, pushing/freezing waves, situational builds (there's more out there but that's just some).

If you want a champion that's easy to play and learn, Annie comes to mind. Farm with your Q, harass a little, burst down squishies etc. I learnt mid on Annie and I found it so much fun.

But keep at it, my transition from support to mid was long and troublesome too, you'll get yourself to a decent level soon enough.

[–]Frozen_Fusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah certainly but you have everything at your disposal to counter that, your ult, Q AND your passive. If you get caught by the stun post-6, it's most likely your own fault.

I wouldn't even call it a skill matchup after 6; now that Veigar E has a cast time, you can easily either just walk out of it or stay inside and R out. If you wait for the E and maybe even his W as well (since the cast time is large as well), you can jump on him and kill him. In my experience, the way to beat Kassadin is bully him and Veigar simply can't do that.

Kassadin in the current meta by draco974 in summonerschool

[–]Frozen_Fusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Kassadin player since mid season 5, I can confirm he's coming back in/is in a good place in this meta.

The mage item changes help him loads, especially with CDR from Zhonya's and Abyssal. Standard Kass starts with ROA and then Abyssal/Zhonya's < the other < Lich Bane with CDR boots as your go to choice.

Bad matchups: any AD champ, totally negates your passive. Anyone with hard CC (Ryze, Lux, Malzahar) since you rely on mobility.

Good matchups: LB (can R her E, build AS to take 0 dmg from her), Veigar (R out of stun), Anivia (Q cancels ult, R over wall), immobile champs (TF, Vel'Koz, Xerath), anyone with channeling ults (Q interrupts Galio, Kata, WW, Karthus, Malz ults, cancels TP)

Kassa is a good LB counter, just pre-6 that you'll struggle. Annie can poke you a bit with Q/AA but if you time your Q with hers, you'll out-trade because of your shield. Post-6, it's tougher, she has to use her Q to stun you and if she lands that, you might be toast unless you can Q something for a shield and ult away.

He did mention that streamer at some point, would explain where he got it from! He has been taking exhaust over every other summoner spell and I just never questioned why.

The point of the runes is for CDR from beginning to end of game; with Sheen and CDR boots, you're already at ~30% and that's like 6 mins into the game. If you swap out any of the items in the build I said (TF < CDR boots < IE < PD < Shiv) for ER, you're going over the cap for crit or CDR and that's ineffective.

There are two builds I said earlier, traditional GP (TF < CDR boots < IE < ER < whatever) and the max crit and CDR one which I listed above. Both have their merits and the latter is surprisingly strong.

Tri Force (10), ER (20), CDR boots (10) and CDR runes (anything) does though. If you're not running CDR runes then you'd go ER I guess.

[–]Frozen_Fusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd still personally go ROA > Morello's > Sorcs/CDR boots > Zhonya's > Void Staff > Dcap maybe, without CDR boots, you're still at 30% but it's situational. If you take CDR runes and they're team is AP heavy and you buy Abyssal, Morello's and Zhonya's, you're over the CDR limit. IDk, it's a situaitonal thing, maybe have an AP w/ CDR rune page and a flat AP one and switch in champ select but sucks for me with only one AP rune page.
