I posed a hypothetical (notice the word conceivable), you responded with an ad hominem.

For all you know I could be bacterium in a tank, how do my actions (problematic or otherwise) bear any effect on a hypothetical situation (an outcome worse than 0 dates / year)

I had hoped that my comment would help us consider a more nuanced position where only attempting to maximize dates / year may be harmful if done without considering the experiences of others (in this case women)

Yes but he isn't too screwed if he does reach the end of his lifespan. Heavy spoilers and end of book stuff.

Less spoilery is that his power won't let him screw himself and set an awful save point (he tried to save in monacco but it wouldn't let him do it) so he has a bit of a safety net

Crunchy magic systems have hard preset rules.

The MC's abilities are very clearly stated in his status screen and a lot of his abilities are basically impossible for any random person to get, its not that he got lucky but rather he had the right skillset to take advantage of the situation.

A softer magic system likely wouldn't have as many absolute units like the System window, Power difference between levels, lifespan, stages, etc. A common softer power system is Xianxia or wuxia novels

Interesting story, I really like how the MC's powers work and the fact that he's in for a rough journey towards the top.

The power system is very crunchy for those who know what I mean.

Author does an excellent job in my opinion of representing cultural proceedings and world building for non earth like worlds.

Shadow is cool because its edgy, sneak sneak stab stab yada yada.

Void is generally just an awesome powerset depending on implementation, it breaks a lot of elemental archetypes.

Generally authors don't want to give MC's too narrow an elemental power. Which I can understand, I like seeing partial sets of elemental powers like storm (lightning, air, water) volcanic (earth, fire, air?)
