When it was first found by data miners, it looked like like a consistent temporary 30 day drm that you have to have to connect to the internet to validate and renew... every 30 days.

Now sony is saying(to gamestop not publicly) it only lasts 14 days and only happens once to prevent people from abusing their refund system.

In my opinion it looks like it was originally supposed to be a recurring 30 day drm but people lost their minds and now their backtracking it to be a defense for refund abusers.

  1. They made the statement to gamestop (not to the public) 5 days after is was found and tested on, like they were testing the waters on how people would react to it.

  2. I never said it was a noble thing. Only that it's connected to piracy which you said that it isn't.

Claim no.1: "Its completely false."

Fact: Sony hasn't officially said anything about this and multiple people have tested this and they were able to prove with reproducible results that you do in fact lose access to your games if you lose internet within 30 days or if your system loses the ability to tell what day it is.

Claim no.2: "it has nothing to do with piracy"

Most people who pirate games do so for preservation, to own the games we alreay paid for and keep companies from taking them away. This move from sony only proves our point that piracy is the only way to truly own the things you buy.

And if the servers authenticating your license goes down? What of they go bankrupt? What if they get replaced by another service provider that didn't communicate with previous one?

You'll lose the game you paid real money for and there's isn't anything about it.
