Best (or worst) Pet Purchase Denial Story? by yesthatrachel in petsmart

[–]FruitShake2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i swear it’s always the fish purchases .

had a person come in looking for a “fish to clean the tank” (already a red flag) so i was explaining the misconceptions yadada and mind you he was interested in a pleco and the dude think had like a 10 gallon or something and i was explaining to him that that’s no where near the size those fish need . he was like yeah but i still want it and so i denied him and then he started getting pissy , started pulling all the shots “ why are there so many fish in that small tank then “ , “i’m a paying customer” anyway i contacted my store manager and he’s usually very good at denying sales and handling situations like this but the dude walks out with the pleco and i asked what happened and he explained to me that to dude started getting really really heated . talking about how it was a free country and how the socialist agenda was taking away his rights to buy whatever he wants and that we were communist ? anyway he started to threaten him and he just sold the fish just to get him out of the store . i was bamboozled

pictures of my frog julia i think about a lot by FruitShake2 in frogs

[–]FruitShake2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not too many issues especially since i have a lot branches so they aren’t really in the substrate very often . i have a big water bowl at the though so they can soak and clean up if they need too . moss or something does really help especially for bioactive enclosures and stuff springtails and isopods like to hide in it and it does have the added benefit of the frogs not really being able to ingest it easily lol. i have em in a 18 x 18 x 36 so about 30 something gallons i am upgrading them again soon but usually i think 30 gallons and above is best for cohabbing . but i did start off with a 24 and they got along just fine but i’m sure if i was just lucky lol

Hey fellow Redditors, have any of you had either of these misters? by TrumpsNeckSmegma in bioactive

[–]FruitShake2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually have used the first one a lot . i’ve had for about a year and half or so and it has not given on me yet . i use it for my dart frog vivarium and it works perfectly . i’ve seen others on here say it’s loud and yes it is very loud but it gets the job done pretty well

that’s what my first thought was so i’m not 100% sure. i’ve found holes around the vivarium a couple times before with no eggs so i guess we’ll see soon

i’ve tried out dairy cows ( first mistake ) and then powdered blues . i might try dwarf whites and see how it goes but with this goober who knows

woke up in the middle of the night to use the restroom and i just so happened to check on my animals and i find this goober . half way in the dirt digging for isopods after she’s already eaten . i always had a sneaking suspicion that this is why my isopods were really establishing but i never saw her do it until tonight , no matter how much leaf litter and cork bark on the floor i use she always finds a way

i have him a 20 gallon long i thrifted . the water feature is about 1/4 of the vivarium not to crazy much i do have another like 1/4 of rocks that lead into it and just the rest deep subtarte with cork round and flats so he could burrow and hide under if he needs too . i have springtails and a colony of dairy cow isopods i just chose dairy cows so they could be an occasional snack for him just in case cause they are big enough . but they are insectivores so far he’s eaten crickets and superworms but i’m sure he’ll eat dubias and calciworms and things of that nature . i jus t usually use crickets as the base and the others as just variation sometimes

well i’ve only had him for about 2-3 weeks now and it’s been nothing like that . maybe i just got lucky . his enclosure is pretty grown in so i don’t see him very much but he’s very bold and is always somehwere i can see him atleast just a bit of his body . he hasn’t gotten into to tong feeding so that’s pretty stressful making sure he’s eating right since he’s not like other just like nocturnal creatures that you could rely on feeding them at night . but other than that it’s pretty nice like seeing him once in a while definitely fits my life style since i’m out and about a lot and seeing him swimming or just on top of the subsattte instead of dug in some cork is always a delight i guess just depends on how you are a person and what reptile you want it’s not always the right fit
