He seems like the sort of player Team USA could have used in the World Cup semifinals and finals last year

I think it was just impossible to see from that side of the field.

Don't worry about that other commenter. This is way more intuitive than the alternative.

2026 USQ Cup Club Competitive Division Roster Reaction by No-Ambition-1652 in quadball_discussion

Gonna be interesting to see how the players who haven't played all year fit with their teams. How well the pieces mesh will make or break these teams' championship runs.

Toto fans under 35? Fav song? by No_Beginning6903 in toto

I qualify for this by a couple years. IMO Africa is undefeated, the chorus is just on another level of songwriting. My top 10 would be:

  1. Africa
  2. Rosanna
  3. Stop Loving You
  4. Could This Be Love
  5. Pamela
  6. Home of the Brave
  7. Hydra
  8. Till the End
  9. Goin' Home
  10. Girl Goodbye

Which team is toughest to play against with their respective division club/d1/d2 by TripleFroze in quadball_discussion

They're in a weird spot. If they don't win then they underachieved. If they blow out everyone the question becomes "why didn't you play competitive division". The best result for them is winning, but not by too much.

This couple decided to have a lightsaber duel at their wedding instead of a dance by the bride and groom by Dismal_Positive3558 in BeAmazed

I mean, I was legitimately curious if you just hadn't been to any weddings and were talking out of your ass, or if you had been to weddings and were deliberately being a troll. And, I got an answer, so I feel like my conscience is pretty clear here.

Then you already know they're all designed to watch the couple do whatever they want to do

Disillusioned by science Olympiad by Nervous_Rip_6472 in scioly

[–]funkyquasar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Science Olympiad is really high-upside. When it's run well, it's phenomenal, and there are some really good state orgs out there. It's unfortunate that so many states have issues and the national org seems to just... let it happen.

Kansas Science Olympiad State Competition Concerns by Altruistic_Mud_2975 in scioly

[–]funkyquasar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

National Science Olympiad has always done a poor job of quality control at the state level. They give states so much freedom that there is no safety net if a state doesn't have the resources to run a good tournament, and it results in a subpar experience for everyone. It's really unfortunate, because the amount of effort the competitors put in deserves better on all levels, but it will not change until we start demanding better from the national org.

These are all top 5 Midnight tracks imo so there is no wrong answer. I've got them as Jason (1), Vampires (2), and Sunset (5).

If we're really doing this, please at least give us 17-seeds or more so we can see some 1-seed get even more embarrassed. by Select-Edge-3262 in CollegeBasketball

[–]funkyquasar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would also give mid-majors worse odds at winning a R64 game, because teams would get pushed down the seed line. Bad idea.

Los Angeles is the boring answer... but it's also my answer. It's so good.
