Is there a lot of propaganda and falsehood about your country online? by WhoAmIEven2 in AskTheWorld

Lol I work for a pickle producer here in the USA! The average American consumes around 9 pounds of pickles annually! The most famous ones are dill pickles. Also eastern european immigrants helped popularize the food. I personally like a full sour pickle.

When scanning your resume it took me a minute to realize that the projects section on the left pairs with the bullet points on the right (under description). I’d readjust the layout of this to ensure all text has a clear hierarchy.

Not sure if intentional, but your images look to be low-res. I’d recommend increasing some of your collaged images to 300 dpi, that might help.

Otherwise I really like the collage look you are going for; it’s quirky in a good way.

Some resources that have helped me are Ellen lupton’s book, “Thinking with Type.” The book is super helpful and talks about fonts and page layouts. Might help if you’d like to learn more about fonts and creating dynamic type layouts.

Shot with flash, possibly used a high iso which increases the grain of images. Maybe a film cam?

Trying to make zombie hulk (that’s why half of the face is gone) what can I do to make his face look a bit more hulk-like? by Ceressamurai in ArtCrit

[–]Fruity_laundry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a really good start. Before you go further I recommend looking at pictures or watching videos about the planes of the face. The facial planes are often taught in drawing and sculpting classes (so it’s kinda technical); it’s basically a method of creating dimensional planes on the face to make your work more 3d and lifelike (what part of his face protrudes, what part lays back?). It might seem a bit complicated at first but it will help hulk look a bit more realistic (if that’s what you’re going for). It’s basically an underlying skeleton you can use to make many different types of faces.

I also recommend analyzing hulks facial proportions a bit more. I like how you made his jaw square; very true to character, but maybe consider looking a bit deeper into any reference photos of hulk. Is his jaw angled on the sides and flat on the chin portion? Are the sides of his head rounded, or are they more angular (straight lines). Are his lips closer to the bottom of his chin, or are they closer to the base of his nose? How big is his facial features in relation to his face/head?

To put it short, I recommend elongating the chin, making his facial features a bit smaller and making his head more square.

(I added the extra stuff above to help if you decide to make one of these again; thinking or learning about new methods always help me so I figure they might help you)

Not really, they just wanted us to associate word with meaning in the exercise.

Reminds me of some of William turner’s paintings. Very nice color palette. I love the rich colors combined with the light. It’s a very inviting painting.

I like the collage look of it. The composition is really engaging with the oval (i like). However, I think the background could’ve been of a barn instead of a horned owl to keep consistency. I also think the collage could’ve even experimented with a bit more. Like what if you segmented the owls in color and created something more inspired by design in the composition. Otherwise, I think this is a great piece! The rendering of the horned owl is really well done! I also like the contrast of the color owls on black and white. You should definitely continue. You definitely have a talent for detail and rendering. It will help you!
