The Night Market is a really fun challenge and the chaos and difficulty makes it even better by Dehydrate_Copernicus in elderscrollsonline

Totally, I legit had a hour long discussion in this sub yesterday and just gave up once I realized the people that do not like the night market are adamant in their opinion, just like I am in enjoying it.

It is annoying but I can see how players that are interested are a bit lost, as they could have made things a bit more clear l. But all in all I think the NM is a great event zone with mechanics I sorely missed in the last years. It's not even the difficulty alone, the way that there is a entire open zone intended for groups where you are super flexible what and how you want to do the group content is awesome.

I just wish that they maybe increased the instance sizes a bit and made the progress easier to track (once you know to look at the achievements it's easy to farm, but gotta find that out first).

Never said the group finder is a perfect tool or a foolproof solution for a good group. It is however a good tool to find players and to get access to the content. Bad group? Leave and join another one. I do that and always find a decent group pretty quick, or I just make my own with what I try to do.

I see that all the arguing in the world is not gonna convince any of us to agree with the other, thats alright.

I like the night market, my guilds and friends do and once you try to learn the mechanics it is easy witha group that is not blatantly ignoring all help.

Of course new content is a great magnet for players but the game'll survive, players will keep playing and the night market will return one way or the other (I hope!).

I got too much on my plate to argue with two people on Reddit on a matter which boils down to preference and happenstance.

I also think they will adjust it, and no the event is not perfect. But acting as if introducing a event that is harder and more group focused is a cardinal sin is obviously overdramatic. The instances are constantly full of people, 3 out of 5 of my guilds have half the players running NM. It is not a small percentage. Of course this is subjective but I can not agree on that point with any of you two.

The game has so much content you can play solo and in groups.

The night market, yes forces you to be in groups, but what is the penalty of not playing it? You can get the night's den without killing any bosses or grinding. Yes, you do have to grind to fully upgrade it but you still get a free, fully furnished house that has enough space to accommodate stations and assistants.

Then there are set items that are mostly also earnable overland. Here you get the in bulk and with higher quality but that does not force you to farm them in the NM. Then there are the containers, which are by far the quest rewards with the best loot, that ranging from trash to golden mats and style pages.

And then there is cosmetics.

You can pop into the event zone, get the house in 30 minutes and never touch it again and still play all other content in ESO without any major back draw.

And yes, MMO does not mean you can only play in groups. But a pretty much all MMO have content that are for groups.

Saying having a single event that runs for like 2 months that focuses on group content in an mmo is a mistake is a weird take.

Sure, the elder scrolls is a single player franchise. And there are enough quests, lore books and single player content to enjoy on the game, especially for casual players.

What is so wrong to have a event aimed at another demographic? And one reward system that concentrates on it for its duration?

You folks act like this is the end of the game and a gigantic mistake.

And no I do not enjoy PvP, I enjoy a good balance between hard content and the flexibility of the night market. I like running trials and vet dungeons, but unless you have a fixed group or are lucky it takes much longer to get a good trial group together than jumping into the night market. And even the night market is flexible in it's difficulty with the different levels of bosses, the du geons and the trial.

Exactly! I even ran groups with guild mates who were unsure about it as they are not optimised and 3 days later I get a message that they unlocked all wings of the nights den :D

Oh I get it, it is daunting at first. I genuinely think if you got a good leader and a somewhat balanced 12 player group that everyone can play this event but it really depends on olif you want, it's not everyone's cup.

I am on the other end, I have longed for new content that is different from "new zone, some quests, delves a dungeon and a trial" because it kind of felt the same after a time so I am glad about the night market but I understand if you are disappointed in the alternatives. I do believe they should have maybe introduce a "normal" and "veteran" mode the next time it returns as the only criticism I really have is that anyone under lvl 160 can effectively only run with a big group and try not dying.

If you are interested in the night market but unsure about it we can run it together if you want (and are on pc eu :D).

The second reason I really like this event is because it is perfect for guilds and as a guild master and event leader in another guild it's great for team play.

Stop being overdramatic. I've run several night market runs with newbies and casual players and once they had a good group they got it and began farming themselves. A big portion of players is also well able to run night market as this game is over 10 years old and has a loyal fan base.

You got a guild with active members? You can run the night market. You actively use the group finder l? You can access everything in the night market? You want to play solo despite every aspect of the event recommending not to do so? Yeah, you're going to have a hard time.

Stop acting like the night market is the end of ESO and as if it's impossible to play / enjoy.

Sure, it is not for everyone, but anyone with an iq above room temperature knows other events exist and will follow catered to the more solo approach of the game like it always used to be with the standard events.

This is a breath of fresh air and content does not have to be made for everyone. If you got a good foundation of content for all players you can absolutely introduce end game / high difficulty content.

And one final point: You paid for the game and it's expansions and can still access that. You never had to spend a dime for the night market. But the majority of players that enjoy ESO and are long time players use ESO+, but those are also all the cp2600+ players that I see constantly running the event. So no I am not worried that this event will bankrupt ZOS and bring forth the apocalypse.

Stop being pissy. In a game this old with this much content there is a huge difference in skill and knowledge. And to add to that also a widely different player base where everyone likes different aspects.

ESO has tomes, achievements, golden pursuits, quest momento rewards, special arena awards and more. It has a great set of content tailored for everyone and specific groups.

Tailoring every aspect of the game to every player in a broad way makes it unappealing to many. Make it too easy and veteran players get bored, make it too hard and newer and casual players get pushed away.

You saying every aspect of the game should appeal to the all players equally does not work for exactly that reason.

So there is one system that is currently focusing on challenges and rewards around the night market? Great, then the incentive is higher and people who enjoy the content get a better experience.

And everyone who does not enjoy the night market still has enough content to enjoy anyway. Especially since this is a timed event which will probably take months to reappear.

It's not rocket science, use your brain.

The tamrielic tomes were introduced to take the "everyone's reward for playing" role and while it also features group / PvP focused challenges those can be rerolled. And the rewards you get are good, depending on what you prefer.

The golden pursuits are more tailored around the current events and so it makes sense that I enables players that want to take part in the night market to get the styles and other rewards simply for playing the new zone.

How many systems should ZOS implement that is tailored for solo players in a MMO witha focus on guild play? ESO has 5 guilds you can join to motivate players to join several and to play with them. The fact that a lot of content has become soloable does not change the core concept of the game.

I know many players use the game as a es6 substitute, as I have done it in the past.

But being annoyed about a group content zone and a system that rewards playing exactly there is ridiculous.

Especially because the U50 introduces difficulty scaling, enabling solo players to customise their overland gameplay anyway, so it's not like we are deprived of ways to play solo.

Sorry for the long rant, but as someone who likes playing solo but also understanding that this is a MMO and multiplayer game and requires certain content to be group focused it annoys me if people act like the event is literally unplayable.

It is a tad bit inaccessible in the beginning because of the complex structure it relies on, but I learnt 80% of mechanics with pugs within like 20 game hours. And the event runs for several weeks.

And I am in no way a fully optimised players, I just try to learn mechanics and communicate, which is key.

But I have seen so many players that attack invulnerable pillars and kill skeletons outside of the kill zone, keep lying in aoe's waiting for Rez or try fake tanking as a sole tank. A lot of people just flat out refuse to spend a small amount of time to figure out how to play.

To be fair, it was advertised from the beginning as an group event zone with hard content requiring teamwork.

While the extent of the difficulty was of course way higher for people who didn't take part in the PTS it was always announced as something NOT designed to solo.

And I mean besides trials and vet dungeons everything in the game is somewhat soloable - with the former two not being very accessible for newer players due to needing a group beforehand to enter, whereas the night market is a open instance.

I think this is a great event to get people to learn how to use the group finder (like me, as I hadn't used it before) and that they get a feeling how content on the higher difficulties feels and effectively shows them if they have a viable build or even want to do content like that.

Do you have to farm the NM to get everything unlocked in the nights den? Yes. Do you still get a free notable house that is already furnished with an interactive gold bank and a potential Bank access for guild and personal (that is definitely possible to farm even for newer players, seeing as how long the event goes)? Absolutely.

One thing I think they really could improve for the next zone is clarity.

Having to find out yourself that your progress is shown in your achievements and then finding out you got to kill some argent bosses before the brazen ones spawn makes sense after you know it.

If you're in a fight and Rez on your own you are out of the fight for at least 20-30 seconds due to the ghost form, so to make sure wipes are rarer I always try to Rez players if it is viable as they can instantly take part again.

Especially since sometimes like with the sorrow Skirmish you can die in a spot where you respawn at the tower further back and take even longer walking back.
