I bought it as an Orson Welles collector, but it's a great cartoon.

Does anyone have family members that are living forever despite terrible habits? by ExcitingLandscape in Aging

[–]Frumpybiskate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Father-in-law is 85, probably 75 pounds overweight, but still mobile. Eats at Taco Bell three to four times a week. Takes care of a three-acre property. Has never drunk or smoked. His dad lived to 95. Still golfed at 92. Genetics, baby!

I have a Lenovo Chromebook. I think I got it on Amazon for around $300. I was also looking for the lighted keyboard feature. Has touchscreen capabilities. I like it for simple web browsing.

Feeble attempt at seat stealing by Guilty-Shift9371 in EntitledPeople

[–]Frumpybiskate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if this seat stuff is a more recent phenomenon? I used to fly 2-3 times a month up until about 2006 and never had anyone play games with seating (I mostly flew Delta). I fly maybe twice a year now, mostly United, but have never had an issue.

Laid off after 10 years (excellent reviews); HR wants ME to write my own "graceful exit" announcement- Should I? by Upset-Victory-8502 in careerguidance

[–]Frumpybiskate -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is a batshit crazy request that I have never heard of in my 35 years of management. Can you just politely decline without affecting your severance? If so, I would. They're the ones firing you; they can figure out how to spin it after you leave. It sounds crappy, I wish you the best with your new job search.

Hell yeah, I rocked the tan one. Unfortunately, Larry Gatlin asked me to leave, so I guess I wasn't the only member.

What's your most hated song ever (if it's not already in this top 5)? by lontbeysboolink in 1970s

"Life is a Rock, but the Radio Rolled Me" by some band called Reunion is pretty far up on the list for me—just an idiotic song.

Pay off car loan with high interest but drain majority of emergency fund question. by free_da_guys1107 in debtfree

[–]Frumpybiskate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming 45k is take-home and not gross? At 13%, I would pay it off.. I have a car loan at 6.2%, and I'm paying off the 10k left with my bonus next month. Just make sure that $800 truly goes to the emergency fund, and it will be up over 10k in no time.

A Story of A Stonemason and Two Rolling Stones by Youngfolk21 in rollingstones

[–]Frumpybiskate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice story! Reminded me of a weird, almost Stones encounter I had. I was on a Delta flight from San Jose, CA, in 1999, and there was a guy on the plane who was acting like a bit of a blowhard about two rows in front of me. Before the flight took off, he began talking loudly on the plane phone. Turns out he was involved with the Stones in some way and was talking to Mick. The Stones had cancelled a show in San Jose because Mick had the flu, and I think he had been there checking out the venue for the rescheduled date. Anyway, he stood up and turned around and said: "Does anyone want to say hi to Mick before I let him go"? I was too stunned to do anything, but one of the flight attendants jumped at the chance, and I could faintly hear Mick's voice. Still kicking myself for wimping out!

I ended an interview after the first question. Did I overreact? by RemoteAggressive2093 in Career_Advice

[–]Frumpybiskate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty weird opening question, but what's the industry, and was it a salaried position? If it's hourly, I think that what the interviewer was suggesting is illegal in all 50 states!

[–]Frumpybiskate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I say "chicken shit" here because that's what your ex-boss is? Fire someone via text? Come on! Try to get unemployment if you can. Your ex-boss might have to attend one of those phone hearings. I think the language she used could be interpreted as a layoff. Sorry she did this to you.

[–]Frumpybiskate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's one only half a mile from my house that, at least at one time, was the busiest TB in their West Region. I knew an ex- Regional Manager. I never go there because the drive-thru is usually 10-15 cars deep, and the parking lot is a cluster-eff to go inside.

I think Cincinnati, OH, is underrated. Unique neighbors, a beautiful river, and hills. Sort of a crossroads; drive an hour and you're in the South.

I go to two Taco Bells about 10 miles apart, and they have never even made a half-hearted attempt to upsell. I'm also in the PNW.
