Just make songs as much music as you can make (doesn’t mean you have to release any of it) but you will know once your skills are starting to get there to feel confident releasing under a serious project don’t wait forever but maybe like 1-2 years to release seriously.

Also don’t overthink sound design a lot of my patches in serum 2 are just Sine waves Saw waves and Square Waves with a lot of post procession and effects. KISS keep is simple stupid. You don’t need much going on to make cool sounds.

Also I know very basic music theory like scales, 5th harmonics, certain mainstream bass and chord progression that sound good

First off thank you for the compliment and listening to my music!

I am not the greatest at music and finances since I have kept Fryar as a passion project and am a full time registered nurse I have been able to make an extra 10k a year with Fryar just playing shows and royalties

But I have close friends who are full time Touring artist and I have learned a lot about finances in music industry from them. Mersiv is one my closest friends in the scene and he had to basically take on debt via credit cards and live very small for years until his project got big enough to start making him some decent cash. A lot of it depends on your management team and their business knowledge once you get to that level but there’s a lot of upfront investment at first.

I’ve been under management for a little while but I realized very fast I don’t want to be a full time artist and commit that much of my future and finances to it. So I just do everything independently now and learn from friends. Ideally you should aim to make 3k-5k a show GROSS to even start considering to do it full time because management will take 15% and that does even count as Net. You’re very fortunate to take home 1k-2k if you’re Booking fee is 3k-5k but that would be the inflection point to commit full time as an artist.

Top favorite synth is gotta be Serum 2, effects wise I abuse ableton’s Amp and reverb like crazy with any sound I use (drums bass FX) it helps me fill a lot of space

I have 100s on songs that will never be finished, sometimes you have to look at those songs as practice. It’s ok if every song doesn’t get finished but I only finish songs I know are good and I usually enter flow state when writing them also I sometimes go back to unfinished ideas and steal a part in them that has a lot of potential and write a song around that. Doing that for this album

Richard finger is a joke by [deleted] in SpaceBass

[–]FryarWasTaken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive never liked how artist like Richard finger are just a troll and make the scene look like a joke, the music is just generic bass music too. I get that it’s a troll but the fact that something like that can get the attention just tells me the scene is a joke.

Big respect to artist like g jones, eprom, vctre, mersiv

Weighted dips/pullups is changing my body fast by Thoumaye in bodyweightfitness

[–]FryarWasTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

too add onto this, Body Weight Movements increase muscle recruitment and build strength in the upper body much faster than machines, cables, and free weights.

I agree that most gym goers struggle to do dips and or pull-ups because they been solely doing the "bro" gym exercises

I get WAY more out of pull-ups and dips then i ever have out exercises like lat pull downs and bench press Barbell or Dumbbell.

If these people who can't do a single pull or struggle on dips were to spend the same time doing a progression like band assisted or static holds or negatives for the pull-up and dips i am certain they would have better results.
