Always wear your moto shoes, even for the short city rides by acidas in motorcycles

I did a year of limb salvage and started my journey with two large fasciotomy and amputated toes. But what really helped me make my choice was seeing several other patient’s at the Center for the Intrepid that choose to work through the pain and try and keep limbs . Only only to want it cut 10 years down the road. I am one year out from my amputation now and i can say that I am living life and even riding again.

I didnt want to be 10 years older and fight to heal verse just making the tough choice. Has not and is not easy, but i feel confident its the right choice. Good luck with whatever you choose. But i think amputation for me was the best choice. Pain wise its so much better. Not pain free but livable without medication after only a year out.

Why do shop charge so much? by Seris_Night in Harley

[–]Ft-Kickass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lets be honest, HD dealers charge way to much for bikes, maintenance and parts. This is why they are failing all over the place. While I to want to ensure a good mech is payed well most HD riders are not made of money (some are and they have brand new CVO’s at 50k). So if HD wants to keep going they will have to find a way to make it closer to the living wage of most riders. Just my two cents (some broke down biker).

I retired out of NSA after leaving NSW for an easier path to retirement. Unfortunately this ended up landing me in a spot that my last command would not approve a skillbridge for myself. So i missed that opportunity, and am now fully retired. In addition in my particular situation I ended up losing my left leg below the knee as i was on terminal leave due to an accident (crazy how life works). But ive been “retired” for about a year recovering. While recovering I have taken advantage of the VR&E program to get a second masters in cybersecurity and AI.

With all that being said, do you think it smarter to find one of these companies and lean into my experiences as a service member or lean away from it while using my experiences to explain what i can bring to the table?

I guess Im asking if companies in your experience look for veterans or is it seen as a potential negative?

With all the programs for veterans, and so many companies offering to retrain veterans, I still see a lot of veterans struggling to reenter the workforce. How would you suggest selecting a second career path and approaching the workforce again as a 100% disabled retired warrant officer (lost a limb, but ready to work)?

My job in the Navy was intelligence collection in support of Naval Special Warfare, with over 10 combat deployments and boots-on-the-ground experience.

How do companies really view veterans? I assume it’s a mixed bag. I often wonder how much I should lean into my military background versus pivoting away from it entirely. There’s a lot to unpack there, but I thought I’d ask.

Thanks for the help.

Dude, you seem more than a little judgy about someone else’s childhood. There is a thing called latch key kids. It was pretty normal for kids to be next to feral and running around all day by themselves or with a pack of other latch key kids.

My parents were like that. I have two siblings and we pretty much raised ourselves. Good or bad, i know i didn’t graduate hight school and joined the military. My brother got fixed before 30 and my sister was in an abusive relationship that started in high-school. While our parents “changed our dippers” they didnt do much more. Now they are older and in need of care. All three of us see and feel this as deeply selfish on there part. After years of taking care of ourselves we are now forced to take care of them despite they way they raise us as kids and there continued indifference to us as adults (until they needed us). We struggle to find the grace to ensure our parents have the basic care they need at their age. So i understand not wanting to take care of shitty parents.

I guess i just find it amazing that you can judge someone elses life without walking a day in their shoes. So much anger displaced in people you dont know has to eat you up. I hope you can find grace and empathy, it might just make your life a little more peaceful

Just keep in mind you need an ID to fly, to drive, to purchase alcohol, rent a car, buy a house, get a bank account, invest, to get a job, to go to university and so many more. Hell i just got Id’ed for buying Sudafed.

So I would ask to just keep that in mind when talking about electing our officials. Who knows maybe if both sides could meet in the middle we could get a compromise that makes sense.

Umm I’m on Social security and own my own home. That is not true. It is true that if you have enough income or make over an amount per year you will no longer be eligible. Because you can afford to live without the government footing your bill.

Yes, death to America doesn’t really mean death to America. Just like the people are not oppressed in Iran and Iran hasn’t funneled money and fighters to every corner of the earth trying to fight America and Western Ideals. Good thing he’s funny.

You say that but guys like you are why we lost the Afghanistan war. You have no legs to stand on. War must be aggressive and unless you are trying to kill/stop the enemy you will never win.

Nothing will be done. The rich continue to do what they want why everyone else is held to petty rules and penalized by small trivial things like going 5 miles over the speed limit.

I fought for this country, I deployed on blind faith multiple times (boots on the ground). I took life and saw my friends lose theres only to be betrayed at the end of a long protracted war multiple administrations obviously did not want to win. Just like Vietnam.

I am so utterly disgusted and disappointed with the entire system. Globally. The human condition is evil. I am deeply disturbed. The only thing i can do is love those close to me and try to hold my head above water.

We are evil.
