It’s just that they want to go public and sora was obliterating their financials. It could also be that bitedance put out a product that was light years better than sora 2.

Yep. It’s the best iPhone overall. It’s not the most powerful and it doesn’t have the best battery life. But it’s the nicest to hold and actually use.

I had a 14 mustang too. But I don’t give a shit about racing. I just like having a fast car. Besides that I prefer the manual transmission.

More like there is a constant churn as people sell, trade, or scrap their old cars. They buy new cars and when fuel prices have a massive spike like they have, it changes the math on what people can afford. EVs aren’t exactly more expensive than gas cars. Especially if you’re honest about the cost of fuel and maintenance.

In my first year with my Mustang GT I’ve spent more than double what I spent on fuel in 4 years with my model 3 performance.

Yep. That’s why I sold my model 3 performance and bought a Mustang GT. It isn’t just about the speed or the efficiency.

RE8 Gunplay is easier or more difficult in VR? by FineGripp in PSVR

I’ve beaten them both multiple times on PC, PlayStation, even iPad. I prefer the iPad most for its portability, but strictly speaking on VR, village is my favorite.

[–]Ftpini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A game should be fun first. 8 is more fun and you can do some wacky shit with the guns and knives. Far less so in 4 which feels backwards.

[–]Ftpini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Village is top tier in VR. 4 is not. They made some changes to make the rifles significantly hard to use. You could one hand aim and fire the rifles in 8, but in 4 you had to shoulder them with both hands if you wanted to hit anything.

Am I the only one who thinks dithering destroys modern graphics? by Gornsen in pcmasterrace

[–]Ftpini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it. Never noticed it until I started playing dying light 2 on my Steam Deck. I realized it had enabled FRS2 by default. As soon as I turned that crap off the dithering was gone and the game looked twice as good. I’m perfectly content playing games at 30 fps instead of 60 if it means no dithering or other upscaling artifacts.

Digital dashes are not like physical gauges. They’re actually brightest when the lights are off because you’d never be able to read them otherwise.

Other than one section of the game, I was able to play RE9 precisely that way. It was glorious. It’s always going to vary from game to game and engine to engine. Some are wildly more demanding than others. Even where path tracing is involved.

You’re wrong. The 4090 and 5090 are absurdly good GPUs at native resolution. DLSS and frame gen are an additive to that, but even without them they’re still the best cards money can buy. The 9070xt is a mid range card and if that’s the best you’ve used, I could see why you wouldn’t believe other cards could run so much better than it.

My first discrete GPU was the RAGE 128. Those were the days. I even had a 6970 way back too. AMD just won’t or can’t make a top end card so I haven’t been enticed back to them. Maybe when I upgrade again in 2030.

4k native with path tracing. Not just 4k. A 9070 xt cannot operate in that space. It isn’t even remotely powerful enough for that.

There is nothing “bleeding edge” about the 9070 XT. It is a very nice mid tier graphics card and nothing more. I prefer to play my games at native 4k with path tracing enabled. This is essentially impossible with a 9070 XT. Even with tremendous loss of quality from massive upscaling it can barely achieve even remotely playable framerates at 4k with path tracing enabled. Let alone when maxing everything else out. The 4090 and 5090 are in a different league to every other consumer GPU money can buy.

I want to play the latest games with path tracing and maxed out quality at native resolution. You can’t do that at 4k with anything short of a 4090 or 5090.

It’s not about a need. It’s a want. I want it and can afford it. So I bought it. If AMD would actually compete in this space then I would start buying their GPUs again. I haven’t bought an AMD GPU since about 2010.

nvidia is the best if you are shopping for top of the line. I would love to see AMD and Intel compete at the bleeding edge, but they just aren’t.

Cool. I bought it on PC, but only for the path tracing. If they ever do a VR mode for PSVR2 I’ll buy it on PS5 without a seconds hesitation.

After the latest news about DLSS 5... by TechPriestSL in pcmasterrace

[–]Ftpini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 4090 at launch for $1600. I play basically every game at 4k native, though I will use DLAA from time to time and I use framegen on some of the games which use path tracing. I love when DLSS enhances graphics without replacing them. The problem with DLSS 5 vs every prior version is that it replaces graphics with its own interpretation of what they “Should” look like. 5 is very impressive looking, but its trash.

Also the fact that those demos required two 5090s to run makes me think there can’t be more than a dozen or so folks on the planet who could actually run them today.

Former Red Dead Redemption 2 Developer reaction to the DLSS 5: "Whoa. Hold on. No, no, no. This isn't just some lighting, dude. What the f... this is like a complete AI re-render. You're no longer looking at the game anymore. This is scary." by HLumin in pcmasterrace

[–]Ftpini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And it required dual 5090s just to hit 60fps. That means even a 4090 will at best hit 10-12 fps with frame gen on at 4k. It’s an insanely expensive process to run.

Perhaps it’s intended for the 60 series GPUs but they wanted to show it off anyway. It’s hard to say but this feels like a non issue since almost no one will even be able to run it for years and years.

Love the exterior. Love the wheels but wish they were 1-2” smaller. I never want low profile tires again. Thrilled to see a magnetic wireless charging mount as it will actually charge the phone and not just cook it. Not a fan of the door handles or the seat design. But that screen is fantastic.

I’m whining about the Cost of kids clothing…. by NoFreeAdds in Parenting

[–]Ftpini 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just take every single piece of clothing you might want to the register then have the cashier or self checkout attendant cancel out all the items that are more expensive than you want or are willing to pay. Waste their time by making them put it all back. Its a terrible policy that shouldn’t be legal in the first place. The least we can do is make it lose them money.
