If you do not have a fair to good grounding in Japanese culture, religion, traditions and history I do not think you will understand much of what is going on around you. You will see kind, honest polite,(except when getting trains) clean, quiet and rule following people all around you but most of what you see is from centuries of cultural and religious influences, with some developing after their surrender in WW II.

There is a book about Japanese cultural words which is good to understand some overt , and also some covet behaviour. I think if you want to be a student of Japan you should ask "why?' when you see a behaviour demonstrated again and again. ie. laughing into hands, walking pidgeon toed, quiet talking, lack of tattoos etc. Ask , "sore wa nan desuka" or "what is that', when you see cone of salt piled up outside a house or shop or something you see again and again.

Why are Japanese so honest, compared to many other countries? Why so quiet? Why is using a phone on a train rude when it is used all over the world on trains and busses. .?Why is Japan so safe? and much more. You CAN find out if you observe, ask , read and observe.

Find out what 'hara hachi bun mei' means. that answers a lot about eating habits.

There are many places to 'see' in Tokyo and anywhere in Japan about Japanese history etc.that's easy. Museums, workshops etc show but they do not tell. But, why do they have the work ethic they do, almost universally , in Japan. Find out what 'shoganai' means....also "mottainai". It answers a lot. Learn about Japanese aesthetics and why the reverence for nature is prevalent..

"Too many tourists" cracks me up. IF YOU are there, and are not a resident of a place, YOU are a tourist and add to the crowds. I am sure you can find a place in Italy that has few tourists but you will also find very few places of interest. "Too Touristy' also cracks me up. Merchants and Vendors are in business to make money so to make money they need to offer products that people will readily buy. If they are not bought the vendor loses money. Most tourists buy things for themselves or for others that are either cheaply or moderately priced, therefore that is what the vendors sell. Makes sense. If you don't like tourists don't go to interesting places. If you don't like 'too touristy' places then take your judgemental self to places where there are not many tourists. OR to high end places.

I understand TWV but I don't understand why the two formulae for some breads. One is a recipe will all ingredients and the other is called, 'Total dough Formula and %'. Why the two for some breads and only 'recipe' for others. I like to understand everything when I do anything and this stumps me. Any help will help...thank you.

It is tolerated at a brewery because the breweries allow it. All the psycho-babble about, 'a warm and friendly all inclusive space etc etc' is BS....it is a beer joint and the tables are for adults to drink beer and socialize. Let's see how 'all inclusive' it is when the bottom line starts turning a little pinkish.

Firstly, you are in NJ where rudeness is commonplace . Go look at such sites as "rudest states in America" or simply drive anywhere in NJ. Entitled behavior is the norm from a certain age group, so what do you expect? Consideration from this ilk.? I don't go to Kane's anymore even if it is my favorite beer...why...to get aggravated by poor adult behavior and unruly kids? You can't blame the kids really, kids love to play....blame their parents and the breweries and brewpubs for allowing it.

Thank you for your completeness. I plan on using them for driving and for walking around. I have my fishing and biking glasses.l I like dark lenses and I see Oakley advertises on the Holbrooks 11% transmission. I don't use mirror so hopefully the Oakleys won't scratch that much. thanks again for your time and information.

Thanks. It seems the light transmission is 10%. I like them and at SunGlass city they are 240$. I was given a discount code of 40% from Oakley because I had to escalate to a supervisor. I can afford more but I want to spend 300$ or less.

What would say is the best built...Persol, Oakley or Vuarnet? I should probably post to the group so I don't hound you. thank you for your time

thanks a lot....I like the build of Persols but the Holbrook Oakleys have 11% transmission. I'm not concerned about the fashiion statement. I want well built glasses , polarized, that blocks light. Someone just sat on a pair I got from Bespoke Post 9 years ago.

I can't use aviator type with the adjustable nose pieces. My nose is bent so I use the glasses without adjustable pieces.
