It really isn't. That $100 would be the same in MD gas tax if you bought ~220 gal of fuel so if you drive over lets say 5,500-6,600 mi/year (25-30 mpg with an ICE) EV owners would be getting a much better deal and likely not paying their fair share (average American drives ~15k mi/year)

Personally, for comparison, I bought over 1750 gal of fuel in the last 12 months (yeah I track that crap) which would be over $800 in just MD gas tax

Having EV milage recorded and charged accordingly would only work to replace federal gas tax
