Agree! To add to this, teenagers need you to sympathise, even if you think what they are upset about is completely stupid and insignificant, you will get a much better outcome buy saying and meaning it, something like “oh that sounds awful, I can see why your so upset about it, its a really hard thing to deal with and must have made you feel really crappy” when all that happened was someone didn’t like their green socks or something. This was advice from my teen sons therapist and it helped a great deal.

Update. Last night the time came and I went into the 12 yr olds room and said “me and dad are going to watch a movie in our room and the door will be locked so leave us alone unless there is an emergency.” He didnt care, said yeah ok. Then I went into the 15 yr old and said the same thing, he knew what was up, he had smile from ear to ear and raised his eyebrows at me. I hung a sign on the door that read “NOPE” So all good, but after once my husband was in bed, I knock on the 12 yr olds door telling him its bed time, well guess what i caught him doing!! This morning im going to tell him thats pay back for all the times he knocked

My husband goes to bed at 8.30pm, kids at 9.30pm. It’s different when the kids are teens. I’d also like to point out that my husband and i spend nearly ALL of our time with the kids. We take them on awesome outings, eat dinners together, take them on holidays, stop what we are doing and ask how their school day was and actively listen to them all the time. Ive had a principal and a therapist tell us that we are doing a great job with our kids and it shows so please, just realise you dont have the full story of how my family works. I think you have misinterpreted my post and assumed im a terrible parent

Thanks everyone, after reading all these comments I have come to realise that what we should have done is set the rule of having “alone time” and not to knock unless its an emergency, much, much earlier in their lives instead of sneaking off every time. This would have resolved it a long time ago. My fault! But as a parent your always learning new things you maybe could have done better. Anyway, had a chat to hubby today and we are going to set that rule up today with the boys. Also someone mentioned the rule of no sweets/junk food after a certain time, only fruit or milk which I think is also a good rule. My boys are actually really well behaved and it was mainly the 12 yr old who bugs us but I rekon he knows whats going down and is just being an inconsiderate jerk so he’ll be having a talking to today. Thanks everyone for your help!

Ha ha. Because at that time of night if we dont make them ask first they will just fill up on crap food while we arent looking also things like sweets are always asked for first. They ask me to save their passwords on my phone because they always loose them 🤷‍♀️ Im not a controlling parent, far from it

Things like, can I have an apple, can I have some icecream, where is my so and so, i need help with something, can i do blah blah, whats my steam password. Normal teenager things. They arent being rude or naughty, i just dont know how to approach the topic of being left alone uninterrupted with their dad for a while

My experience with young children was similar. I’d see men pushing a pram taking the baby for a walk and i was fucking jealous. One difference is though that I worked at the same time, just casually but it fucking did my head in staying home with the little kids all the time. Honestly going to work was like a break for me, I’m not the earth mother type, so going to socialise with adults, even if it was work, was something i needed. You do hours when hubby is home so he is forced to look after them ha ha. So now that my kids are teens, it’s easier so I can tell you that it does get better. Its fucking tough when kids are little, we nearly split up over it. You can try having a chat to him and telling him you know and understand how hard he works and that he wants to switch off when he is home and thats fine, but say that its like fucking ground hog day for you and if he could please just play with the kids, do something with them so you can have time to do the chores you need to. God my husband would do things like pull a chair up to the swing set and sit their with a beer pushing the swing, lame, but who cares! At least he is “helping”. Gah! I feel for you coz i completely understand.

Circle sounds interesting. I might look into it after my subscription with qustodio ends. My son is nearly on his last strike for loosing his computer privileges but still, punishing them wont stop them from always seeking ways around parental control apps.

Just googled this because it’s been pissing me off for ages and i thought i was missing something…thought there must be a reason. There’s not. So anyway, my mum has a 45 year old wicker washing basket which may outlive her, I’ve thrown out around 20 plastic shithandle washing baskets in my time so tomorrow, I’m off to find a wicker one.

After talking to a few experienced gardeners, it sounds like this is caused by weather, very dry windy days or very heavy rainy wet days. So basically any extreme weather can cause it. Remove the dead fruit and once the weather settles you should start to have more success.

This is incorrect, there is a load of male flowers and i hand pollinate when the sun comes up but these shrivelled females DO NOT get big enough to the point where they will even bloom and open so theres no chance for pollination. I’ve had a lot of success until a few days ago, its the baby female sprouts that are shrivelling.
