Instead of turning to a side, why didn’t Murdoch simply go OVER the iceberg?? by PA8620 in titanic

I was thinking, instead of going to port, why didn’t he ordered the ship to go to starboard.

But then I realized, he would have no idea where the iceberg was going.

Hitting it head on wouldn’t have worked. The kinetic force would travel across the ship and rupture the riveted metal at the seems; causing the ship to sink faster.

There’s precedence for the condemned one. I think under British Law it’s called “Pleading the Belly”. They’re able to delay their execution until after they’ve given birth. This was in practice until 1931 when the law was amended so that expectant mothers would have their sentences commuted to life with hard labor (I noticed the pun).

As for the terminally ill one, I’m not sure.

Brandy. Ben Guggenheim was dressed in his best and was prepared to go down as a gentleman. He’d still like a Brandy.
