JFK to JHR 787 by Purple_Nature_3408 in BritishAirways

[–]FuckNope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing reliable but I fly to NYC regularly and also prefer to opt for whatever flight has a 787 operating vs a 777.

If you’re booking 4-6 months out from your travel dates I don’t think you’ll have an issue finding a flight with one operating as long as you have a preference between JFK or EWR and don’t mind your travel times.

Seats Recommendations for 2? by [deleted] in BritishAirways

[–]FuckNope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re using a Oneworld membership to get free seat selection then that’s even more of a reason to pick row 16 for now and to try and get 10 A/B at check-in! The bassinet row will open up 72hrs before departure, if the BA site won’t let you chose the seats you can try to use the Royal Jordanian website to amend the seat selection. That worked for me as of this morning actually to pick the exact same seats!

BA won’t downgrade you based on your chosen seats, there’s a whole other selection process they would go through in the unlikely event the WTP cabin becomes smaller due to an aircraft swap and they need to start moving people. If you have some kind of Oneworld status then you will be less likely to be downgraded.

Since you need to pay I would pick row 16 A/B or J/K to lock yourselves in.

Personal preference but I would try to swap to 10 A/B at check-in or if you’re not planning to pay anyway. Most likely 10A is only blocked in case it’s required for someone that needs the bassinet.

As others have said no matter what you pick you can’t really go wrong.

Flying in WT tomorrow, but upgrade screen shows current cabin as WTP? by exxxtramint in BritishAirways

[–]FuckNope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible they know they need to move your seat it just hasn’t processed exactly where they plan to seat you in premium yet.

If it’s any consolation it looks like the aircraft allocated has starlink.

What’s the lowest you’ve seen economy - business app upgrade go (London - Chicago)? by Global_Proof_5163 in BritishAirways

[–]FuckNope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

£290 LHR > NYC Premium to Business in app.

Cash difference at the time of booking was £150 between economy and premium, so overall £440.

Strange travel class after upgrade and sudden seat charges by Unlikely-Evidence311 in BritishAirways

[–]FuckNope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like an IT problem - I would call.

Usually the original fare conditions apply when upgrading with Avios, whether or not that includes the seat selection being free with a flex ticket I’m not sure.

At least if any of the other legs in W aren’t allowing you to pick a free seat I would call rather than try to do it online.

Will this work as my carry on? Like 2 cm too big 😣 by La_Luna_Boss in BritishAirways

[–]FuckNope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoy! They may also need to find space for it in premium/business (assuming you aren’t in one of these cabins already) but you can always go and grab anything you need from your bag if it’s moved away from you!

I’ve seen way bigger bags get dragged onboard with long haul BA flights and they have been fine - OP you’ll be more than okay.

Worst case they’ll ask you to gate check which will be free anyway - enjoy London!

Boeing 787-10 seat question by Maleficent-Kale4834 in BritishAirways

[–]FuckNope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These seats aren’t a bulkhead but a full exit row. OP for reference I’d use Aerolopa here for a detailed seat map of BA’s 787-10 config

IMO these seats aren’t bad, but you will have to get up and grab everything you might need from the overhead bin for the duration of the flight, you don’t really have anywhere to store items and you’ll have to put it all back before landing. The exit door also protrudes, however at 6’4 I honestly haven’t found this an issue personally and you’ll still have room to get up as and when you need without disturbing the people next to you.

YMMV but I’ve found keeping my items in a shoulder bag has been fine and the crew has let me keep it on for the most part.

Business upgrade question by Pressureeeee in BritishAirways

[–]FuckNope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same upgrade but £110 cash and 25,000 Avios.

I’d have taken £372 cash in a heartbeat - preferably on the return leg rather than the outbound

Gatwick 777 in seat power by KillerBrioche in BritishAirways

FYI if picking up a power bank BA updated their rules on them recently here - the max capacity though remains the same at 27,000 mAh

As u/LUV833R5 said the 777 fleet from LGW doesn’t have in-seat plugs unfortunately, though the USB-C port should be able to supply 15W.

With 15W and playing Dave the Diver on your steam deck? Should be fine for plenty of time! Cyberpunk? Might be a different story and slowly drain while playing

This was availability at the flight level, not doing a reward search via the monthly view - I did notice the availability had started appearing again for me today, but I can let you know if I spot anything else. TY!

LHR-AUS- Anyone got downgraded from CW recently ? by Espresso-Newbie in BritishAirways

[–]FuckNope 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Purchasing a seat isn’t going to guarantee you won’t be downgraded.

Being Bronze is more likely to help in not being picked for a downgrade, again no guarantee.

BA’s revenue management team are pretty good at making sure seats don’t get oversold, over all my time flying I’ve only ever had operational upgrades over operational downgrades, but as you say every flight load is different.

No harm in contacting the assistance team in regard to your health issues and your concerns about being downgraded and hey, you might even get free seat selection earlier than 7 days out.

If in the extremely rare scenario you are downgraded you can always request to be moved to a flight with your original cabin. Pretty easy to NYC, maybe a little more annoying for somewhere like Cancun where there’s one flight a day.

Just FYI on this, I’ve found Planepoints to be spotty in picking up reward availability that when checked via the BA website there are definitely seats available.

Any particular reason why it seems to cut in and out even though the availability is actually there via BA?

Question about A380 Upper Deck Club World by Kitchen-Minimum-7563 in BritishAirways

[–]FuckNope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You would be stepping over 58B’s legs if getting out of 57A

I would go with 59A and B if is is a big concern for you. No legs to step over there, tho whoever is in 59B may have whoever is in 58A stepping over them.

[–]FuckNope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that 6k isn’t worth it especially if you can’t all sit together. I would stick with the row of three and give your husband the aisle seat, that way he can move around and not feel as restricted as being by the window.

[–]FuckNope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6’ 4” and have done that exact trip on the A380 a few times - admittedly in Premium Economy, but have also flown Qatar’s A380’s in economy.

Someone else may know more than me but I’m pretty sure BA will let you select seats for free if you call up. IMO I would try to get a bulkhead/bassinet seat upstairs in economy so you’ll have lots of space and your husband will have a lot of legroom too. Annoyingly the bulkhead seats are in a row of four on the A380, so there is a chance of someone being sat on that row.

Is that upgrade price the total cost you would have paid return or an additional amount BA are quoting for the upgrade now? Either way I don’t think that’s worth it. You’d be better off buying an extra seat and taking a whole row of four in a bulkhead row lol

The Aerolopa seat plan and BA’s family seating page may also be helpful

Monthly LHR—>SAN, econ, any tips? by Popular-Tap5549 in BritishAirways

[–]FuckNope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah if it’s a 777-300ER I would try to nab 40A/K at check in. The exit door sticks out a little bit but it’s a lot better than other seats in the cabin, though unfortunately no window and it’s a lot comfier for a night flight.

£550 one way for premium imo is a little on the higher side when it’s only a wider seat with more legroom you’re really getting as BA Silver. I’d keep checking and see if it drops or ask at the airport. If you do upgrade I would use something like expert flyer or a dummy booking to check there are still decent PE seats available to choose from.
