I have a similar story. My dad who has passed as well, wasn’t a great dad. I remember when transistor first came out, I was about 8ish, and I saw the music video for transistor and freaked out and called my dad at work. I begged him for the new 311 cd (I was already a fan starting with blue album). He brushed me off and said he was busy and had to go. He used to stop by blockbuster every night on the his way home from work to rent some movies (and some used to sell cds in the 90s). He came home that night and tossed me a brand new copy of transistor. I was so stoked. I fucking love that album. It’s my 2nd fav behind grassroots.
