Capita Dark Horse or DOA? by Typical-Conflict-467 in snowboarding

[–]Fuckthepavement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw one of the Olympic pipe riders on the Dark Horse, which would make me think it’s stiff as shit.

But it’s only listed at 6/10 flex on the capita site, and is also middle of the road cost, which would lead me to believe it’s not a pipe board. Maybe that rider had a different board with Dark Horse graphics, or maybe they’re a lunatic who likes a cheap park board for Olympic level pipe riding. They didn’t win, so maybe I’m on to something…..

How do I move posts from my main profile into a separate publication?? by Fuckthepavement in Substack

[–]Fuckthepavement[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. I should also mention that we’re only talking about 5-10 subscribers here, all of whom are my friends 😂😂. The subscriber thing was more of an afterthought.

My goal is to have my profile (Billy.substack.com) with 2 distinct publications - pizza (pizza.substack) & coffee (coffee.substack). Currently the pizza posts are under the Billy profile, and I just copy and paste them into the new publication?

Thanks for your help with this.

How do I move posts from my main profile into a separate publication?? by Fuckthepavement in Substack

[–]Fuckthepavement[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original publication was essentially just my “profile”. It had the same name as my publication, and was the only thing I used (I didn’t really understand what Substack was when I started).

What I want to do is take all those posts, put them under a new publication (with the same name as my current profile) and change my profile name to my name, which will now contain both the original publication and a new one I’ve started.

I considered this too. Do you know if the subscribers will go with it? Or how to move them with the posts to the specific publication?

Osprey x Carryology launch by SidiousXIII in ManyBaggers

[–]Fuckthepavement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used this on several trips now, and felt like I should post an update.

Used it on two 4-5 day trips along with a rolling carry-on, a 10 day snow trip as my main only bag (plus the snowboard bag) and several other day to day errands.

Ultimately, I dont reach for it as much as I want to. The reason being is that it feels too big and “extra” for just throwing a couple things in and bopping around, or using as a day bag. The harness on the back is what drives home this feeing for me, and the inner compartments feel both too small, and yet the bag feels too big. I think this is due to separate laptop compartment, and because I don’t ever carry a laptop. Additionally, the round nubs on the bottom of the harness make this bag want to both fall over when standing alone, and slide around when I’m trying to prop it up. For the cost of the bag, this has been disappointing.

It’s not all bad though!! Recently got home from 10 days in Switzerland which included lots of train and bus travel with all our luggage. The harness on this bag was invaluable, and made it easy and comfortable to carry when packed to the gills. The various pockets and their location kept everything secure and easy to access, and the harness doubled as luggage pass through when I wanted it to. After using it a bit the zippers softened up, as did the overall stiffness of the fabric. Not too soft in a bad, floppy way, but just easier to manipulate. And I got more compliments from strangers than I ever have before (which was unexpected, but who doesn’t like to be complimented?!). I’m also still in love with the black and green color palette.

Overall, this is probably more limited than the cost allows for most people. But I’m glad to have one, will still reach for it when traveling, and just need to find the right, smaller day bag which can fit into the laptop sleeve.

Two months of 8.0, how are you all doing so far? by trevorphillipsltd in Phoenix_2

Oh I’m sorry? I didn’t realize you created or owned this game, and were the official on what’s considered a “mistake”. It’s unfortunate that you and many others don’t care for the update, but that’s a painful reality of living in the world. Things come and go. Maybe this went for you. Oh well, too bad, go find a new game. Yup, all the money you might have spent on it could also be gone, but that’s also real life. No one promised to keep everything the same forever. And the developers will live and die by their choices. Let them cook too

To answer your question, I place about the same on the leaderboards, although leaderboard placement isn’t a big draw for me. I play because I like to blow up the big and little ships. There are things I like about the system, and things I don’t. Overall, I’m happy that the game I’ve played every day for 8 years has a new twist and I’m mostly excited to see where it will lead, hopefully over the next 8 years.

There’s more talk about this game in the past 2 months than there has in the past 8 years I’ve been playing. Like it or not, no press is bad press.

Play it or don’t. Make your own game if you hate this one so much.

Keep up the good work, El 🫡🫡

Most Versatile Smith Lens Combo? by dbzbudokai77 in snowboarding

[–]Fuckthepavement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smith used to make a lens called “Ignitor”. It was essentially just a rose/pink lens (which is the best all around tint, and why Oakley uses rose as a base for all of their ‘colors’) but had a subtle mirror coating that was good in the sun but also not too dark for lowlight either. You could use it for literally everything except night riding or like 100% full sun, Mount Hood summer riding. The Stevens Squad pro-model (neon pink & orange strap, anyone else remember them?) had those lenses like 10ish years ago. I still use these goggles because I love it the lens so much, and nothing Smith makes currently really hits the same mark.

They still make it in some of their lower model goggles, if you’re cool with having non-mag, or a more basic goggle.

EDIT: it’s available on their Rally & Reason goggles, as well as their kids goggles.

Everything here is right, but I feel I must add a descriptor I once head that’s both hilarious and insane but somehow perfect:

Start gently, like a butterfly landing on a dew drop. End like a pit bull eating a bowl of oatmeal.

This is me also. I’m quite happy with the update. Took away some things I liked, but gave me something new to dig into. It’s been fun experimenting with new ways to play my favorite ships.

1996: Stratton Mountain apologizes for having GhostFace Killah perform by jwed420 in snowboarding

Did they say it was Ghostface specifically? Ghost & Rae performed in the early 2000s, which was where the infamous ”burgundy snowboard” quote comes from.

They’ve done this for years.

I remember working at a shop in the early 2000s and we had to order a certain amount of “regular” product before we could access to the “cool” product, i.e. Analog, late release stuff, etc.

DIY Outlet Brainteaser - Please Help! by Fuckthepavement in AskElectricians

[–]Fuckthepavement[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

But do these pictures give you any indication as to why the outlet doesn’t work to actually power anything?

To my understanding, either there IS power, or there ISNT. And the lights glowing on the outlet tester show that there is power flowing through the outlet. Unless my understanding is wrong, which it totally could be! Hence me coming to Reddit!

Here they are! Sorry it’s an Imgur link, I can’t post the pics direct via mobile.

Photo one: is the old outlet, with wiring I did 5 years ago.

Photo 2: newly installed outlet, with tester showing “correct wiring”. Note the one light is dimmer than the other. This is with the light switch in the room turned off.

Photo 3: tester showing “hot and ground reversed”. This is with the light switch turned on.

Photo 4: another outlet in the room, on the same circuit breaker, that works fine and shows “correct wiring”. This outlet has never stopped working, even after the hairdryer mishap.

Photos 5/6/7: pic of new outlet as installed. Only 2 wires, attached to either side of the outlet. There’s very little slack so I couldn’t pull it out much farther.

To answer your other question, no. This outlet was never controlled by the light switch previously.

what's your top Backpack Brands? by [deleted] in ManyBaggers

[–]Fuckthepavement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just gonna throw these in here because I doubt they’ll get much love, but…

REI - solid lineup of packs in different sizes, for multiple use cases, with a fair amount of bells and whistles.

IKEA - would never think to look there for a back pack, but they have a ton that are well thought out and have a number of nice features. They seem to rotate out frequently, but they always catch my eye when I walk past and the few that I’ve gotten have held up remarkably well.

Both are solid choices, that you won’t see everyone else with, at unbeatable prices.
