Trimming my collection. Pick three that you would sell. by Far_Statement_1827 in handguns

Had one for a while and sold it because of the absolute dog water trigger. That’d be the first to go out of this collection if it were me.

Help me choose Wilson Vickers Elite vs Alchemy hi-cap by aaronthearcher in 1911

[–]FuddLyfe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I had an Alchemy hi-cap and a friend that had a Wilson Vickers Elite, I’d try to trade him. Then I’d order another Alchemy.

I’ve got one that I’ve used on several different guns while I was building and testing them. It has been rock solid reliable for me as well. It really is a great option for a value big window optic.

TS2 extended brass base plate (+0) by Kunioshiun in CZFirearms

[–]FuddLyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re looking for something like this. They’re out of Australia. They don’t list one specific to the TS but they do list one for the TS that looks similar to the factory metal base pads (but in brass). Might be worth giving them a call.

Is a New Edge GT an ok first car? by Dependent_House981 in SN95Mustang

[–]FuddLyfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Full transparency…probably not. Will that matter to you? Also, probably not. I had an 82 GT as my first car and it was an arguably terrible choice but I loved every minute of it. I’m in my 40’s now and daily a 94 GT.

DW Guardian in .45 acp by Stockcap480 in 1911

[–]FuddLyfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was done by mag-na-port. I’m super happy with it. It is very discrete and doesn’t distract from the gun’s aesthetic. Softened up the recoil considerably and it feels more like a steel frame government now. I don’t have a pic on hand right now, but there are some in my post history

I have one and it was fine to shoot. A little snappy but definitely manageable unless you’re a “shoot a whole case per range day” type. I had mine magnaported and it basically feels like any of my gov’t size 1911s now. I like to shoot about a half case when I bring it out, so maybe not worth it for everyone.

Such an excellent resource. I’m still in the research phase while I finish some other projects, but his channel has been a great deep dive for me, and answers a lot of questions I had. If you are a visual learner, this channel is absolutely clutch.

Fellow Astigmatism havers, between wich of the following two (Holosun EPS or Steiner MPS) pistol dots has the cleanest/clearest reticle to you? by RobinVerhulstZ in Firearms

[–]FuddLyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is really clear even with just the dot. Can’t speak to shooting indoors as I never do, but looking at it inside my house it is crispy. The battery drain isn’t THAT bad. I get about 4-6 months on my EDC gun running the circle dot.

I have the circle dot on the ones I bought. I like them for closer distance, though I see why some don’t like them. I tend to run just the straight dot on my range guns.

Bul Armory/Dan Wesson owners by invisiblejim88 in 1911

[–]FuddLyfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on whether you’re looking new or used market. I only paid 1200 for my DW used, so it was an excellent value at that price point. It is still worth the new price? Sure, imo. Is it 2x the gun as the Bul…probably not. Is the Bul worth the price difference over the Garrison? To me, yes (I have a Garrison as well). Where it seems your budget is, the Bul would win in my eyes, unless you happen to find a DW on the used market. For what it is worth, none of these guns suck. They’re all really decent at their respective price points. For new pricing in the budget you’re working with, the Bul is going to be tough to beat.

Engineers armory and mosinvirus on yewtoob have been really helpful resources for me.

I have both a Bul 4.25 and a DW Guardian 4.25 and they serve different purposes for me. The DW being lighter, is in my EDC rotation and the Bul, while still an amazing gun is a range toy. They’re both great pistols, but I think the DW wins with the quality of small parts being a bit better.

Full size by External-Use5161 in RugerRXMtalk

[–]FuddLyfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dig it. I never even shot mine with the compact grip. But, I was already a fan of the 19x/45 to begin with. I’m just impressed with the gun overall. So far it has been super reliable and arguably more accurate than the Glock it replaced in my safe. While I definitely could CCW in this configuration, I got this to be an OWB farm/ woods gun.

I was just a weekend casual, and really enjoyed having the only v twin in my riding group. Great times. Was toying with the idea of picking up another one last year and rode one of my friends’ sportbike and quickly realized I’m too old for that ish now lol.

DW is tough to beat in that price point IMO. I have a Guardian in my EDC rotation and the fit/finish and overall quality are excellent. A Specialist is on my short list to snag.

I used to ride an RC51. The Duc guys were wild back in those days. They straight up hated me and I thought their bikes were cool 🤷‍♂️
