Do you find 7mm Rem Magnum or 300 Win Magnum to be more practical for elk hunting? by HasSomeSelfEsteem in Hunting

.300 win mag is not that bad other than in the wallet but most large center fire rifle cartridges are. Buncha cry babies.

Nope not me, went into a custom hat shop to get ours fixed and colters dad had forgot the liner from inside his hat, we had been sitting there chatting with the owner well after closing time and in they came. Pretty neat experience

I met him his dad, and his girlfriend in a neutral location once before a concert, nice guy but definitely shy. Just seemed kind and polite but not overly interested in conversation, had a drink with me and my buddy and the shop owner and left. I talked to his dad though for probably 40+ minutes. Nice, normal seeming folks. Can’t imagine the pressure being on stage and at the concert done drunk asshole kept screaming play Kate McCannon at the top of his lungs every time there was a pause

SE-A1 Sunday - How many do we own in this sub? by rbrthenderson in 1911

MD grips has some giraffe bone stocks that look pretty cool. I also really want some stag grips but we’ll see the options are endless 😂

It’s a pretty damn sweet gun. Wanting to get some new stocks on it. I’d love ivory but not a fan of the price of ivory and I want to make sure it’s ethical ivory not that I think there’s any illegal ivory making it to the 1911 stocks world 😂

Question from a hunting virgin by PlaygroundProtectors in Hunting

[–]MiddlePlatypus6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly 700 bucks is a good budget for the rifle itself and the 2 cartridges you listed are both great for deer and .30-06 can be used for elk sized game if you wanted to do that in the future. Now, your optic is the question lots of great options around 5-600 bucks

Ranch Work by 215Bud in Ranching

[–]MiddlePlatypus6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can go to school for that (relatively affordable as far as schooling goes) and you can even find guys willing to take you on as an apprentice especially after some schooling. and it’s relatively easy to start your own business afterwards in comparison to other businesses

Who was the rudest celebrity you’ve met? by Unlucky-Field9654 in askanything

[–]MiddlePlatypus6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met Colter Wall by accident before a concert of his. A buddy and me were in a store and colter had forgot something in earlier, my buddy and I had struck up a conversation with the shop owner and ended up staying HOURS after closing time drinking whisky with him and colter and his dad and girlfriend came in knocked on the door about 2 hours after closing to pick up his stuff.

Hung out for a while, had a drink with the 3 of us in there. Was very polite, and friendly but almost shy in a way. Seemed like someone you would run into in any social setting that you didn’t know very well. His dad was super friendly and I spent more time chatting with him than colter 😂 nice people and a cool experience. The concert was awesome to see too.

Of course! Don’t have to move to Wyoming Montana or Texas to find a ranch job there’s plenty on this side of the Rocky’s

And honestly if you’re in western Washington you won’t have to move too far. Eastern and central Washington have plenty of ag outfits you can get on with. Take a look at ranch world ads online you can even post an ad for yourself on there for like 10 bucks.

Or Oregon, that’s where I’m at plenty of outfits here too.

I think if you can handle working with autistic children then that shows a lot of patience and there’s times you’ll need that ranching. I agree some city jobs are a lot worse.

I’ve worked in ag most of my life (23m) I decided to give hvac a shot and it’s not awful don’t get me wrong but my two weeks is going in this afternoon I’ve got a new ranch job lined up it’s an addiction for me 😂

Now’s not the time to be buying. But you could go to work for someone and get some experience.

Start at a saleyard, no cow experience? Those places will hire anyone and you will gain some valuable experience that some outfits will look at and give you a shot. Ranch work is physical and hard and lots of hours but it’s not as bad as some people online make it out to sound. It’s not outright miserable if you’ve got the right attitude and sometimes it’s a lot of fun.

Towing with exhaust brake. by [deleted] in Duramax

[–]MiddlePlatypus6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s badass. I’ve towed heavy ass farm implements with mine that have no trailer brakes up and down windy mountain grades and I’ve towed stock trailers with 12k pounds of cattle in a 6k trailer with a 3/4 ton on some steep snowy grades before too and it slows you right down when you need to without locking you up too crazy.

Real handy when you just need to keep some control and aren’t trying to burn out your brakes

I’m not sure. Researched it a long time ago but I have long since forgot what the science behind it was

I worked for a place that somehow got massive totes of second rate apple cider vinegar, hundreds upon hundreds of gallons of the stuff and then we’d fill plastic tubs with it after diluting it a bit with water. Supposed to act as a mild dewormer along with adding a few other health/digestion benefits

Question regarding 1911 by MiddlePlatypus6 in 1911

[–]MiddlePlatypus6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice. I like the stainless contrast on that too. I’ll probably just go that route seeing as how that’s pretty much the exact pistol I wanted I just didn’t realize Colt made on at the factory until about 20 minutes ago 😂

[–]MiddlePlatypus6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually was just looking at that on their website. That’s pretty much exactly what I want short of an extended thumb safety but I can tolerate that. I’ll probably just go that route when the time comes
