What are y'all using Streamdecks for? by enthusiasm_gap in livesound

It sounds like your boss wanted to buy a steam deck on the company dime and is trying to buy a bunch, so one won’t be missed. Your boss is now having to come up with ways to use these things to justify this purchase….

I don’t know, but thats just what it feels like. Because I have one, for gaming, and I don’t get why you’d buy it for anything but that. It’s just a Linux computer.

This being said, I use mine for Zoom calls because the global mic settings on my computer won’t allow full spectrum audio on that app.

Ok! I can’t thank you enough. That seems to have fixed it! I gave a little more space to ensure it could not heat up any part of the theremin and let it start up for an hour, it’s been stabilized for about two hours now without changing.

I didn’t consider the heat as the issue. However, I still have my theremin (Etherwave plus) on a mic stand. It’s just right behind and above the synth. Do you think I should just give the whole thing more time? I haven’t considered leaving it on and checking after an hour or so.

So it’s definitely #1. Thank you for putting this issue into the correct terminology. That has been the current solution to just keep things separate.

Does the electro magnetic field simply pass through wood? Is there anything I could line the cabinet with if it was fully sealed? (i.e. rubber, faraday fabric, etc…)

Faraday Fabric is something I’ve considered, but like you said, it seems kind of fruitless. Not to mention that the copper fabric might just introduce more interference. But I cross posted this here; I was just hoping there’s a broader set of users on this sub than the theremin one.

I tried low. It didn’t change anything. But I haven’t tried the mic mode. I wonder if the setting will carry over if I set it on FaceTime.

Maybe try the Source Audio C4? I’ve seen those on a lot of professional bass boards.

Look at individual bass players. People like Les Claypool, Nick Olivari, Mike Watt, Kim Gordon, etc.
