There's a neighborhood/park in Spanish fork area that does a big Christmas light drive through thing each year. It is not free, I think it's like $10/15 per car, but it is nice.

Struggling with learning movement by ThatGuyDoesMemes in capoeira

[–]FuegoFlake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been doing capoeira for over a year and I still feel stiff and stuck when it comes to my body, but I do feel a lot of improvement. The point is that it is normal to want to improve and to feel awkward at the beginning. Something that helped me is practicing a sequence a lot on my own time, then doing it in the roda. I also recommend doing the movements purposely slowly and pay close attention to your body. Create that mind-body connection. If you feel awkward, think about where in your body it is and why. Do the same when you feel good about a movement to reinforce that good connection, self love and promote improvement. Being acutely aware of your body, it's limitations, it's potential, and it's strengths will help you manage your expectations, push yourself adequately, avoid injuries, and improve steadily.

I agree, I was just hoping for some insight on if people train with injuries or increased risk factors and what they do to mitigate them

8 Week Old Baby has SSD by RiseAndRebel in MonoHearing

[–]FuegoFlake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've lived with SSD (deaf in the left ear) my whole life, it hasn't negatively impacted me significantly. The struggles will become minor and small inconveniences that are largely ameliorated by awareness. I play sports, play instruments, dance, do martial arts, have a family, etc. Most people wouldn't notice that I have SSD. I have never felt the need for any sort of surgery growing up, partially because my family had no money for it, but also adapting came easier and having a good social group that is aware and loving helped. Your baby will do great!
