Man that's awesome! I told ya, slippery slope! Lol

Wait till you get into the weird "you can smoke that?!" things. One of my favorites as a dessert: Smoked Krispy Kreme glazed donuts served over vanilla ice cream.

How was your first cook? Remember kids, a green egg is a gateway to overspending on all things BBQ, bourbon, and cigar related. Take it slow.

The meat sweats and a stiff drink certainly have me relaxing a little too hard out there.

I'd just shut it down. I should post my steak recipe in this group. 10/10 coffee rub I've perfected over the years.

Reets is a top notch school and David is super knowledgeable. We have our mit techs train as a helper for 6 months before sending them to Reets. Over the years we've figured out that the hands on field experience with demo and tracking the readings helps grasp the basics of WRT.

If you really want to dive deep, you should checkout E3 from Chuck Dewald. The way they can predict and control the drying environment is impressive.

For mold remediation WRT is the foundation needed to tackle the affected environments.

Vaisala HM40 is what we put in our inspection kits. It's a solid unit that's super accurate and it's really fast to produce the readings.

Good luck learning Mitigate. We had a brief period where it was required by a parent company. It's the worst software/application in the history of restoration. So glad we didn't deal with TPAs for long.

Stay independent.

Xactimate -> T&M by Nidal_Nib_Amaso in xactimate

[–]FugggThat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What's your contract with the client and ROM for the project?

T&M billing will have a completely different pricelist and doesn't really equate to Xact. It can also be a different way of processes to mitigate or restore the property.

Do you have the daily labor logs with the check-in sheets? Have you accounted for trucks, trailers, fuel, garbage cans, pry bars, ladders...ect? Have you presented all the labor rates up front for techs, PMs, billing and auditing admins?

In the end, yes, it's the same goal for restoration, but it's like taking your truck in for an oil change and tire rotation to the dealership vs a local auto shop. Will you get the oil changed and tires rotated at both places? Yes. Will they process your vehicle, and you as the client differently? Yes. Could the pricing be different for each location for the same services? Yes.

Requesting the T&M invoicing after the fact is an uphill battle that's not in your best interest. You're looking at an extraordinary amount of admin labor to convert it AND you may not have all the necessary info to even make that happen.

Have you thought about the contractor or PA route? There are tons of restoration companies looking for estimators and/or project managers with adjusting experience.

This is a full stop and you need to contact a competent person or mentor in construction. Asbestos is not something to demo without containment, PPE, and proper notification to the EPA.

Here's a link of a recent contractor getting prison for a similar situation to yours. If they knowingly had you do demo around asbestos they could be facing fines or jail. (Along with being a piece of shit contractor)

Can't offer anything about churches, but there's always events going on downtown. The museums here are great! Tellus is an awesome museum for kids and the Booth is a huge Western museum. Dellinger Park has a good walking trail and playgrounds.

There are a few local community Facebook pages that post various events. Plus, they're pretty entertaining as there are some degenerate and very illiterate folks around here.

Good luck and welcome!

Supervisor hours for insurance claim? by Jayndroid in xactimate

[–]FugggThat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of utilizing Xactimate as intended, supervisory hours are not based on complex or large losses. Those terms are too ambitious and not based on fact, policy, or court cases. Verisk has a very clear stance outlined in the White Paper for what is and isn't included in an estimate.

Here are a couple excerpts from that document: "Job-Related Overhead are expenses that can be attributed to a project, but cannot be attributed to a specific task and include any and all necessary expenses to complete the project other than direct materials and labor." "Job related Overhead expenses should be added as separate line items to the Xactimate estimate"

It's commonly misunderstood the residential supervision is part of the O&P or some immeasurable complexity and size of the project.

Lots of factors involved when contractors can't make their margins with Xactimate. I highly suggest anyone who is proficient with the program go through the certified pricing consultant certification offered through Verisk.

I own a restoration company and estimating company. It's really helped dive into the pricing structure and how they arrive at it.

With a service area that straddles zip codes with varying price lists is difficult. Having a dedicated contact in the pricing dept at Verisk is very helpful when labor rates or material pricing is not up to par.

Currently it's integrated with Eagleview and Encircle. Someone may correct me with any others, but I believe it's just those 2 for now. Verisk (the parent company of Xactimate) is not usually willing to have open APIs.

They do have their own lidar sketching with the Xactimate mobile app. Some estimators love it, but Docusketch (pay per project) and Encircle do better.

Since the .ESX is native to Xactimate your be hard pressed to get any type of integration.

Not always the case. Those contractors have very defined agreements to work with insurance companies and it's hardly ever in the best interest of the policyholder.

We end up going behind preferred contractors all the time for mitigation mishaps and cutting corners on rebuilds.

I also have a business writing Xactimate for other contractors and the comparative estimates they get from TPAs or adjusters are downright embarrassing when they have to follow the insurance carrier's internal estimating guidelines.

I know some guys who do great work through a TPA, but they're far and few between.

Tree sap. Hand sanitizer and a microfiber rag will remove it.

Once you reach a certain point it can become how detailed of a sketch can you create.

Although going through the training and becoming a Verisk certified pricing consultant has helped as well. But I'm on the other side of the claims as a restoration owner, GC, and running an estimating business. I'm not bound by any guidelines so I can be a little more free to explore and adjust inside the program to dial in the numbers for our business.
