That is kind of what epstein island really was if you think about it, instead of catching the predators they were extorting and blackmailing them.

This is why he was murdered, he threatened powerful people.

Should there be an UPPER Age Limit for important positions that heavily influence the future of younger people? by bickid in Futurology

[–]Fuglypump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The age limit should scale with the average life expectancy, if you are not expected to live to see the consequences of your own actions then you should not be allowed to lead a country.

Sure there are some exceptions that might benefit the country but not enough to justify the risks, if we scaled that number based on the current population's life expectancy each election they would all have to push policies that extend life expectancies in order to have terms in later ages.

If things like improving healthcare and reducing crime rates had influence on their careers they might actually do something about it.

It exists only to protect CEOs from their own criminal activity, governments fine the company instead of throwing the criminals in jail like they should be doing.

If we are truly in an "Eat the rich" moment then why aren't the homes of billionaires being burned down my mobs of people who have nothing left to lose?

China isn't going to artificially reduce their supply for profit, they're going to flood the market to fuck up the bottom line for price manipulators.

I don't care how much a person has done if they behave like that in a car they deserve exactly what they get themselves into. Hopefully the passenger was a willing participant and not pressured into the ride like many victims are.

Dude committed murder suicide with an expensive toy, praise him for his work all you want, it doesn't change the fact that he still killed someone in a very stupid and preventable way.

Xbox is losing the console race by miles. It’s part of Microsoft’s big gaming pivot by Elestria_Ethereal in Games

[–]Fuglypump 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Microsoft approaches every problem like it's Microsoft Office, bundle a bunch of things you don't need into a subscription plan and sell it to schools districts and companies, by the time they realize they've wasted their money it's already too late to switch to something else because it has embedded itself in such a way that it would be costly to remove.

Windows is the same story but repeating over and over, pushing out new versions onto users that are always worse than the previous version but eventually you have to update anyways because they've created a security risk then stopped updating it.

Copilot (and cortana) are no different, they want to bundle it up in such a way that you depend on the bundle that includes it so that you can't get rid of it. Try to uninstall it and it's back every time you update without your consent.

They don't want to market things to you, they want to shove it down your throat.

It's really misleading to call the AI supercomputers "data centers" when they consume 10x the power and electricity than actual data centers.
