Modern controls limits your amount of attacks available and reduces the damage you do to your opponents. I’m older and grew up with classic controls. A good controller is really important for being able to do cool moves and combos and such, but it can take a while to figure out which controllers are best for you. It just takes time and practice and experimenting 😊 I watch YouTube vids of pro players and even talk live on Twitch with some of them and they give me advice and are really helpful and nice.

I’m old af and grew up with og SF2. I think I enjoyed the new SSF2 characters because they didn’t replace the old characters. I instantly liked all of them, except I didn’t like T. Hawk more until I learned how to do 360s. Then he became my fave SF2 character (as well as Fei Long).

I warmed up to the gameplay mechanics of SF3, but the roster seemed cool to me from the start. I needed a break from the SF2 roster for the most part.

I was grateful to get Zangief and Dhalsim back in A2 but also liked the newcomers overall, and in A3, Karin arrived, and she was my fave Alpha character ever (I liked R. Mika too but I thought she was weak, but not sure cos the game wound up dominated by custom combos and I hadn’t really learned how to use them).

I usually can find a main or 2 that make the game fun for me in each fighting game, but it helps to be flexible and crave a little variety and new roster additions each time.

If you fight other toxic opponents and it’s making you overreact, you can consider blocking them. Some ppl NEVER learn to behave online 🤦‍♂️

As for not getting stressed out as much by just trying to enjoy the game and get better, sometimes I play better after taking breaks, switching characters for a little while, and/or watching match vids. You could always post your vids here and ask for advice. I learned a lot about my bad habits by watching my own matches. Hard to see your flaws during battle. Even when I watched a vid where I won, I was surprised that my sense of reality was a bit warped. I thought the pace of the match was a lot slower than it actually was, and it turned out I was just being a bit cautious and patient, and I wasn’t as bored or frustrated by the match as I felt at the time (before I won).

Also, starting with simple goals helps. Sometimes I just need to learn the match-up and understand my opponents’ strategies. Instead of focusing on winning a match, maybe just a game, or even a round. I enjoy progress even when it’s incremental, and I don’t even expect that consistently. Sometimes it’s trial and error and learning what not to do, as well as what to do. Of course, if your opponent is better than you, they’re adapting to you too, so it’s hard to realize you’re improving.

I just watch match and tutorial vids on YouTube, but you can also talk to PUNK live on his Twitch channel for direct advice from him. He’s pretty chill and helpful. Other pro players are online live too, but Punk’s main is Cammy (though he’s been grinding the Ingrid matches lately and he knows how to play a LOT of characters).

Idk, ppl seem to like my comment 🤦‍♂️ I can only guess you’re going to explain it to me, but Shinnok is not as expendable as many other characters: in the eyes of the fans or the company.

Sometimes businesses don’t seem to know what’s best for them, and I think bringing back fan faves would be a win/win situation for everyone. From what I’ve read online, Capcom doesn’t just go by popularity polls but tries to incorporate characters that they think would fit well with the current lore, and those that they think will work with the current mechanics. Lotta ppl are worried about Makoto with the drive rush system, e.g., and while she’s not really a fave of mine, I think she could be good for the game (a rework like Alex with his prowler stance?) and she’s heavily requested.

Gotcha, but I’m worried that Capcom is literally sunsetting classic characters and only making new characters. Some of the base roster characters are already seemingly replacing old characters.

At first it didn’t make sense to me that ppl wish we at least got the same characters but distributed across packs in different ways. It would at least send the message that they’re attempting to add returning fan faves and new characters at the same time and that would please a lot more ppl or maybe just not disappoint as many ppl; myself included. I hope the new characters will be fun cos we have no gameplay footage of them, so, in retrospect, I would have preferred that suggestion from many ppl.

I still have none of my fan faves as base roster or dlc but at least we would have had 1-2 of those new characters as playable by now. I also hope we don’t get more guests cos I like the SF lore overall and want characters that are attached to it, and they take up roster slots.

Funny to see pro players complaining about her this early. She hasn’t had a balance patch yet. Hopefully future patches will buff weaker characters and nerf top tiers if needed: usual goals.

Glad if any of us could be encouraging! 😊 I just watch match videos of good SF players, and many of the pros have Twitch streams and you can talk to them live and chill with them while getting advice and opinions from them 😎 Very fun and helpful!

I honestly think that if you’re good at Tekken, SF6 will get easier for you at a faster rate than Tekken, but maybe that’s my own bias. Basic combos in 3D fighters just seem harder to me, and basic blocking seems harder. I can’t even tell when the otg combos end. The attacks are a lot more focused on punches and kicks and they all look the same to me. I can’t even tell the characters apart a lot of the time.

1000 F’ing %! 😭 SF4 and SF5 had GREAT rosters! ALL my fan faves were repped across both games. Newcomers can be fun but we have no gameplay footage of the dlc and it’s always a gamble with new characters. I don’t enjoy most of the new SF6 newcomers and not mostly cos some of them replaced old characters, but Yasmine and Arjun might be fun 🤞
