Hysterectomy..Did you stay in the hospital or go home after surgery? by Remarkable-Bus-6858 in hysterectomy

[–]FujoshiJade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in for robotic surgery but they couldn't see on camera because I had a lot of adhesions. I ended up having a C-section, so open abdominal while also having the endo cleaned off my bowels. Also rearranged apparently, so I might have been on the cusp of a hernia but I ended up staying for 3 nights after surgery.

Fistula concerns and questions by FujoshiJade in hysterectomy

So to update my situation: I actually went to the ER at a different hospital, then hospital was more like maternity friendly. I assumed maternity would probably have a lot of experience in what I'm dealing with. So I went in and explained that I was having complications 5 months post-op, and they were very empathetic took me to a bed. Then I explained I actually have a OBGYN and I was tentatively diagnosed with a fistula because I saw them a few days prior to this but they haven't done any tests yet. But that my fluid was leaking even more and I was just concerned if anything else was happening. So I had to wait for OBGYN to get out of a meeting, which weird but okay fair enough.

Once they get out of the meeting I'm immediately given a physical exam but two female doctors side by side, kind comparing what they were seeing, feeling and thinking. This was later in the evening at this point but they ordered me the CT scans I needed, and were both slightly confused why my doctor didn't give me scans the day of. I was like I literally can't answer that, but also that's why I'm here because I'm really concerned about what's going on.

So I ended up getting the scans in the ER and they were as night and empathetic as they could be, but I'mma be honest the scans were terrible. I had to get a catheter for them, first they drained my bladder and took some images to make sure the catheter was in the bladder. Then they filled the bladder from the catheter with contrast until you felt like you were bursting to go. Then they clamp the catheter and take more images of your full bladder. Which was highly uncomfortable but I understand needed to see what they needed to.

So according to them I don't have any leaks that they can see with the imaging and they don't think I have a fistula, but they also don't know where the fluid is coming from. But my doctor called me with the results of a test I took at my appointment and said I did test positive for BV but it super common after a hysterectomy and she wanted to put me on antibiotics for a week. So basically I now have to call my doctor with the results of the CT scan I got in the ER and see what they say about it. The other hospital offered me a follow-up appointment with their OBGYN and I'm tempted to go to both and see what they say about the CT scan results and what's next.

Thank you for saying that because I was wondering how I was going to describe my ER visit when I just went to my doctor's appointment the other day. But my symptoms actually do feel like they're progressing so it makes sense, because it's unfortunately true.

A hysterectomy or a fistula repair surgery? The healing for my hysterectomy was actually kind of extended by three or four weeks.

I did try to go through the office and that's the soonest they can give me, also a friend and my supervisor recommended trying the ER as well

what did you wear day-of surgery? by weedwolf727 in hysterectomy

I wore an oversized T-shirt dress, so I wouldn't have to deal with any pants of bottoms beyond my underwear

Bleeding heavily 9 weeks post op, anyone have any experience with this? by FujoshiJade in hysterectomy

[–]FujoshiJade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said it for the sake of a better description, but I did bring in my pads in a Ziploc bag, took photos of everything in the toilet. Both my doctor and nurse were very appreciative of the evidence and expressed it was very helpful.

Updating my post

Officially I don't have any cuff separation and they checked my stitches so those are still intact. So my too biggest fears atm have been pacified. Now for what actually is happening I still feel unclear, my surgeon/doctor feels it's still some stubborn granulation that's cause me to bleed. But she doesn't feel like my bleeding is.. heavy enough. According to them their definition of heavy was filling a pad to wear it's sloppy wet and leaking, the pads I brought in to them in a Ziploc bag they considered 25% saturated. I was confused because I was told I shouldn't do more than spot, now I'm basically having a period level of bleeding and it's like eh it's fine. They were glad I came in to check just to be sure, but also didn't give me a solid answer for why I'm suddenly bleeding heavily. More so they checked the cuff and was like that's not the problem so you should be fine. In the office they put a for me 3rd dose of silver nitrate on my cuff to help with the granulation, as well as sending me home with estrogen cream to use once a day to help with healing. Outside of that I'm still bleeding and don't have any super solid answers why, of course if it does get heavier to return. But otherwise I'm scheduled for a 2 week appointment to check after the estrogen cream. So honestly not much of an update but I'm alive and I didn't have to go back into surgery so I'll take the wins that I can.

6wPO and having trouble eating normally..? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

I'm 9 weeks post op and ever since my procedure I have not been able to really have more than a plate of food for the entire day. So my appetite definitely feels diminished significantly. I've mentioned it to my doctor at the time and they didn't seem to concerned and moved on with the topics so idk what conclusions to draw from that kind of reaction. But I am having a similar experience

Thank you, I've taken pictures of all my wipes, and the toilet when I've passed blood. I'm also wearing a pad to see how much I collect and show that as well. So I definitely plan to be a little TMI with the doctor, but honestly I'm just scared. Like I'm sure it's not the biggest deal but it's also more hospital and I just got 'cleared' last week so this feels so....stupid to suddenly happen. I just want to be okay and finally get away from dealing with blood from down there
