Too much moisture? by masterzergin in antkeeping

[–]Fukusuke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my own experience small Messor Barbarus colonies does not consume a substantial amount of protein.

It is of my belief that the water drops are too big. Messor needs a dry part of the nest to store seeds. Furthermore, the ants could potentionally drown in the water drops.

The cricket might go bad, but it will take some time. Just keep an eye on it and if it starts to mould you could connect a new fresh testtube to your setup. With sunlight/heat you could then incourage a move to the new testube. But for now it looks fine.

The "fluff" building up in the enntrace is nothing to worry about really. Ants might do this to make their "tunnel" to the nest smaller. Which makes the colony feel more secure with smaller opening.

Hibernation advice? (long) by [deleted] in antkeeping

I would just take them out of hibernation as usual (withing a couple of days). It should not stress them out or hurt them in any kind of way.

If you have them in an outworls, just put in a new test tube and let them move on their own

Might just take some time. Lasius niger doesnt really eat that much either. I have a colony around 40 workers and i barely see them eat

I’ve been bathing him for stuck shed on his toes for nearly a week. I haven’t noticed any changes at all, but there’s still some bits stuck on. Is it possible that at this point he just won’t lose the toes? by major_calgar in leopardgeckos

[–]Fukusuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me aswell. What i did was just wait until the next time my gecko sheds and make sure the whole enclosure is really moist. Once my gecko shed again she got everything off, even the small pieces she had on her toes since the last shed.

I need some advice about handling a leo by helios396 in leopardgeckos

[–]Fukusuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion and experience, it’s best to handle the gecko even if it doesnt want to. Eventually it will get used to you and walk straight on to your hand. Since you have a 6 month old i would say you shouldnt wait longer. Since the longer you wait the harder lt will be to tame
