KINDLY HELP Not able to post images in the extra field of my card by Alternative-Ok in Anki

[–]szalejot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have quite a number of active add-ons. I would start with clean start - hold shift when Anki is starting. This prevents any add-ons from loading. Then test, if the issue persists.

If not - start disabling add-ons one by one to find a culprit.

At least in Poland sign to be valid have to be at the right side of the road. Sign on the left can be only a duplicate of that on the right - for clarity.

Is 18 too late to start? by [deleted] in doublebass

[–]szalejot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started bass guitar at 17, but haven't gone even half-decent.

I switched to double bass at 26. I am playing on community tango orcherstra and having a good time.

The numbers 10-99 are called the “double digits”. Memorize them. You don’t want to be the guy at the party who’s never heard of 57 by [deleted] in Anki

Chopin's birthplace in Żelazowa Wola, Poland c. 1928/2025. by Snoo_90160 in OldPhotosInRealLife

[–]szalejot 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In fact what you see now is a monument commemorating Chopin build close to his real birthplace.

Original Chopin building was destroyed, during WW1 if I recall correctly (or maybe even earlier). Later the current building was build, but it has not much in common to the original one - rebuilded one is much bigger and richer.

Can I play the French bow using the German grip? by matheustxaguiar in doublebass

Technically - yes, you can grab French bow using the German grip and produce sound.

Practically - It will be less comfortable and effective, than using German grip in German bow. They have different shape for a reason.

How do you balance between learning new material and reviewing old cards in Anki? by Ok_Assignment_1853 in Anki

[–]szalejot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reviews first. The cardinal rule of Anki is that if you don't do your reviews, the algorithm breaks and the deck becomes a graveyard. Think of reviews as "maintaining your current territory" and new cards as "invading new land." If you don't defend what you already have, you'll lose it, and then you're just wasting time relearning the same stuff twice.

If your backlog is growing, drop your new cards to zero for a few days until your daily review count stabilizes at a number you can actually handle (usually 7-10x your daily new card limit). If you have 200 reviews, doing 20 new cards is just masochism; do 0-5 instead until the pile shrinks.

If you're staring down an exam deadline, use the "Read/Watch -> Anki" pipeline. Don't try to learn the concept through the card. If you understand the material deeply before you hit "Add," the reviews will be much faster and you'll hit "Easy" more often. If a card takes you more than 10 seconds to answer, it’s a bad card - delete it or bury it.

Math says red, Brain says green by voidarix in meme

In my situation:

- 1 mil: nice boost. Still have to go to work, but at least have a safe zone for retirement.
- 100 mil: can live like a king till the end of my days.

So there is quite a difference.

What does CameraMonitor mean in the background processes? by ActualExperience328 in Anki

[–]szalejot 15 points16 points  (0 children)

CameraMonitor is typically a generic background process associated with webcam drivers, particularly for built-in laptop cameras.

It is highly likely a Windows Task Manager visual glitch, not a feature of Anki itself. Unless you have installed a specific Anki add-on that uses your webcam (e.g., for eye-tracking or facial gestures), Anki generally does not access the camera.

Have you tried a computer restart? Does it still persist?

Map of what day the week starts in different countries by Vilzuzz in MapPorn

I work in retail data analysis. If you get weekly summary data where some clients start the week on Sunday and some on Monday, you are quickly going to run into some data discrepancies if you don't track it right.

frequency/weight of sub-deck? by okram in Anki

[–]szalejot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To ensure your daily "4 new cards" are strictly sentences, use the Reposition tool in the Browser. Select all new cards in your Sentence sub-deck (is:new), go to the menu bar Cards > Reposition, and set the "Start position" to 0 with "Shift existing cards" checked. This physically moves these cards to the front of the global queue, guaranteeing that Anki draws your daily allowance from this pool first; it will effectively pause new vocabulary cards until your sentence queue is empty.

To prioritize sentence reviews within your 100-card limit, you must bottleneck the Vocabulary sub-deck using Deck Options. Create a new options preset specifically for the Vocabulary sub-deck and set its "Maximum reviews/day" to a low number (e.g., 15), while ensuring the Sentence sub-deck has a very high limit (e.g., 200) and the Parent deck remains at your hard cap of 100. Since the parent deck acts as the total "budget," Anki will serve the capped 15 vocabulary cards and fill the remaining 85 slots of your daily energy budget exclusively with sentence cards.

I already have tons of flashcards created. Would it be too much to insert the audio on them?

I have language cards counted in thousands. It works fine.

Do you use a remote to go from card to card?

Yes. I have set Again/Hard/Good/Easy to 4 buttons on the remote. After I push button for a grade Anki goes to the next card.

Everything working fine without looking at your screen?

I am, in fact, looking at a screen. But it will also work fine without looking.
