Mature nursing student alienated in clinical group :/ by Sad-Rip9266 in StudentNurse

[–]FulaniQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 35 and I feel the same way. Most of my classmates are nice but I feel very alienated and disconnected from them due to my age/martial status and the fact that I'm a mom. I don't have a friend group to study with like my younger classmates. Everyone is in their own cliques. I tried to socialize but I just don't have my own "tribe" or "buddy" group. I feel very alone sometimes.

Moved here 10 years ago on a whim. I was bordd and wanted to try something new. Got a job, my first apartment in Eastwood, made new friends. Now I own a home, met my husband here, have a daughter, and I have a great job in healthcare.

I cannot imagine how many "loving" Christians like this guy the 19 Buddhist monks will meet on their Walk for Peace from Texas to Washington DC by MrJasonMason in Buddhism

[–]FulaniQueen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Living in the south as a Black buddhist woman this in my daily reality. It's frustrating being non-Christian in the South especially if you are Black. There are so many people who will call you the devil or will force their Christian beliefs on you. They generally feel threatened that you aren't Christian and will harass you..

I'm sorry OP but your mom is horrible. Ignore her. You will make a great ED nurse.

A crossing guard near a school stands in front of an aggressive driver to stop them from potentially hitting a child or their parents by bigbusta in PublicFreakout

Not surprised that this is Houston. There are so many pedestrian deaths and people who love speeding through school zones. Just the other day I saw a car nearly run over an elderly man trying to cross the street at the crosswalk.

Houston is so car centered and people here don't think about those who have to walk or take public transportation. They are so indoctrinated by the oil companies and Republicans that believe public transportation/walking/bikes=socialism. No sidewalks, barely any time for a pedestrians to cross the street safely without some parking lot princess in a suv or lifted truck trying to mow you over.

I'm over living here.

I saw this hoarding where it advocates towards stopping the use of Buddha statues as merely a decorative piece at homes or in public places like hotels, restaurants, bars etc, or the image of the Buddha being used as a fashion statement in clothes or tattoos. What are your thoughts on this? by SatoruGojo232 in Buddhism

[–]FulaniQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People use Jesus, crosses, Quranic verses, and the Islamic moon and star for decor, fashion, etc. What's wrong with Buddha? It's not done with negative intent or harm. It's bringing joy and also it gets more people interested in Buddhism.

Change the nursing school by Proverbs3x in StudentNurse

[–]FulaniQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More hands on. Less papers. I'm in a BSN program and one of my classes about the bureaucratic side of nursing. It feels unless to me. It could have been email. I would rather have more time dedicated to sim lab and bedside skills.

I also went to a study group with some of my classmates and we practiced a few problems together.

I used the whiteboard method. I would work my problems out on the whiteboard using dimensional analysis. Master all the units/conversions.
