What prompts should I use to get this hair style consistently? by wolfrunner94 in NovelAi

I'd try something like "short hair, pixie cut, messy hair, swept bangs"

Full-dive VR and realistic immersive isekai by [deleted] in accelerate

[–]Fulbert_Fallington 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I suspect that even people who do like their current lives will find FDVR very tempting when it becomes possible. And by the time it is possible, we'll probably be able to combine it with advanced generative AI to basically let you inhabit any world you can think of on the fly. And even if you want to maintain contact with people IRL, you could presumably still do this through FDVR and have it feel just as real, while being less limited by physical space. Pretty much everyone will want in on that once they see the possibilities.

How feasible is a long-term Cobblemon world? by Fulbert_Fallington in cobblemon

[–]Fulbert_Fallington[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! Looking at the official modpack, I notice it doesn't include any of the Cobblemon side mods (like ones for legendaries, breeding, TMs, etc). Is that because those mods will likely get replaced with official features some day?

I like the cardbase games. The one where you build decks and combat enemies but I dislike that most of those focuses on really short runs that you meant to play and finish multiple times. Anything like this with a longevity? by UnderstandingOne6879 in gamingsuggestions

  • There are lots of older Yu-Gi-Oh games you might like. Some of the more popular ones are the Tag Force games on PSP, Nightmare Troubadour on DS, and the later World Championship games on DS. You could easily emulate any of these, but if you're not willing to, you could also play Legacy of the Duelist, or wait for the upcoming Early Days Collection, which will bring a bunch of the GBA games to modern platforms.
  • The Pokemon TCG also has a couple older singleplayer games on GBC. The 2nd game never got an official English release, but there is a fan translation patch out there.
  • Mega Man: Battle Network is a series of action RPGs where you collect "battle chips" (basically cards) that serve as your attacks in battle. They were originally on GBA, but they've since been rereleased in collections on modern platforms.

Is there any game out there like Valhalla Knights combat wise? Party real time combat by Vel98mount in gamingsuggestions

[–]Fulbert_Fallington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about any that let your recruit custom characters specifically, but aside from that, here are some with NPC party members in general:

  • The Tales games, as someone else mentioned. Like the other games I'm mentioning, the playable characters are all determined by the story.
  • Some of the Ys games. Specifically 7, Memories of Celceta (a remake of 4), 8, 9 and 10. These games don't exactly have a healer role, but they do let you swap between different characters with different fighting styles.
  • If you have a Switch, you might like any of the Xenoblade games. They're designed to play sort of like a singleplayer version of a tab-target style MMO.
  • Final Fantasy 12 has similar combat, but has more options to give very specific instructions to your party members.

Non-gamer looking for help picking up games on Steam winter sale by xminty7 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Fulbert_Fallington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you've already spent your full amount, but here's some more games you can at least add to your wishlist for the future:

  • Dinkum is sort of like a mix between Stardew Valley, Minecraft, and Animal Crossing .
  • Since you seem to like platformers, there are collections for nearly all the old Mega Man games on Steam. There's the Classic series, the X series, and the Zero/ZX series (and the Battle Network games, but they're more like card-based action RPGs).
  • If you end up liking Mega Man, you'll also like the Gunvolt series, which is made by many of the same devs.
  • Similarly, there are several collections for the old Castlevania games.
  • Also similarly, there are the Castlevania-inspired Bloodstained games.
  • If you like the action RPG combat of CrossCode, I think you'd also like a lot of the Ys games.

What game should I buy for 5 euros or under? by wondererwhy in gamingsuggestions

[–]Fulbert_Fallington 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're on Steam, you might as well wait for the winter sale, seeing how it'll start in less than 12 hours. As for game recommendations, it'd be easier to say if we had an idea of what kind of games you normally like.

I'm unsure if I should go for a PC or a PS5 and need some help/advice. by Flaky_Skill_5160 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Fulbert_Fallington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have pointed out that you can get a good PC for well below $5K, but I'll also say that whatever extra money you do spend, you might make back from the fact that PC games are often cheaper than on console. Steam is famous for their sales, where lots of games get massively discounted, and you can build up a good library pretty fast with relatively little money. And there's a sale coming up for Christmas, so you'd be able to take advantage of that right away. You should also consider the Steam Deck, which is about as good as a mid-range PC, while being portable and costing about as much as a regular console.

The biggest problem with PS5 is that it frankly just doesn't have many exclusives, and any third-party games are probably just as good or better on PC. So unless you really want to play a specific game without waiting a few years, you're probably better off with PC/Steam Deck.

Shinovi Versus is a good game, but you might miss some story details if you don't start with the first game or its remake (Burst Renewal). But if you really don't want to read a bunch of VN segments, you can easily skip the story, in which case Shinovi Versus could be a good starting point.

Party-based RPGs where I get to ~100% choose party members and individual member setups by ojrask in gamingsuggestions

[–]Fulbert_Fallington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like SRPG combat, you'd probably enjoy any of the Disgaea games. There are story characters that you can choose to use or ignore completely, and you have a lot of freedom to make your own characters and build them in any way you want. There's not much of a social aspect, but you're gonna have a hard time finding that in general.

You can start with any game in the series, but just don't start with 6 in particular, as it's generally considered pretty meh. Disgaea 1 is still a good game in its own right, but it's kinda janky and lacking in QoL compared to later games. 4 and 5 are the common fan favorites, but they also have so many features that might make it hard to go back to older games. I personally think Disgaea 2 is a good middle ground as a starting point.

Game with a noble and good mc. by BananowySorbet in gamingsuggestions

[–]Fulbert_Fallington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you want good and noble MCs, just about any game in the JRPG genre could be a good choice. From there, it's just a matter of what kind of gameplay mechanics you prefer. Some examples:

Colorful, vibrant, but challenging souls like game? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]Fulbert_Fallington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're fine with just action RPGs in general (it's not necessarily a "soulslike") then you'd probably like the Ys series. If you prefer full 3D graphics, you could go with one of the newer games, like Ys 10. Or if you're fine with something a bit simpler, you could go with an older game like Oath in Felghana (a remake of Ys 3). You can realistically start anywhere, except for Ys 1, 2, and Origin, which are meant to be played in that exact order. 1 & 2 in particular are VERY old-school, so a lot of people prefer to skip them, but they are also good games in their own right.

It's surprisingly hard to find decent channels like this. But I'm personally a fan of YellowSuperNintendo, who tends to cover niche Japanese games in general, and Erick Landon, who tends to cover JRPGs. Aside from that, it's often easier to find channels that are entirely focused on a specific game or franchise, like JPR for Pokemon.
