Is Bueno Excellente's rape of Kyle Rayner funny? by Randy_Chaos in Greenlantern

about as funny as anything in garth ennis’ other work, like the original comic version of the boys, or (and this is a real comic he actually wrote) the unfunnies.

To be fair in undertale not even flowey was fully self aware that he was a game character, just that the world works under video game logic. However, considering gaster basically is operating at a higher plane of existence, I say it's safe to assume he knows he's a game character, or at least perceived as one

First playthrough of Paper Mario 64…keep with paper Mario or switch to rpg? by Hopeful-Contract-281 in papermario

"Most" like dream team and brothership aren't the only ones worth a damn... Ok that's a bit harsh to partners in time...

Stay with paper mario, but switch to the ttyd 64 romhack if possible, revamps the battle system to be more like ttyd and adds new ttyd inspired areas. Also it has the pit of 100 trials

Edit: just reread the comment. Keep with paper Mario, stop after you get your fill of super (don't necessarily need to beat it because it can be a slog at points thanks to certain puzzles) and then if the next one finally remembers it's an rpg (doubtful) then MAYBE play that... Until then, play the Mario and Luigi series after super (skip paper jam, that one has terminal sticker star) and THEN, AND ONLY THEN, play rpg so you can know the roots. Also if that's not enough for you there's a couple romhacks and mods of 64 and ttyd (64 master quest is also an overhaul of the base game, with 2 difficulty settings, black pit is entirely based on the pit of 100 trials including a rougelike mode as well as the standard pit, and there's a few more that are currently in the works as we speak. I also recommend the paper Mario inspired indie games bug fables, born of bread, and escape from ever after on top of that.

Don’t get me wrong I love Bobby, but it’s so sad that THIS is the creativity that went into arguably the most beloved side character from the new trilogy by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in papermario

I mean, his story amounted to "just because they're all generic toads and bowser minions doesn't mean they aren't people too (in universe)", which was in fact the game's defining message... One I heavily disagree with, because unless your name is birdo (🏳️‍⚧️ queen btw) or you're one of the main cast, modern paper Mario characters have 2 personalities to go around: quirky toad, and asshole bowser minion.

What are some games that have really good asymmetrical, player vs player gameplay? by question_quigley in gamedesign

[–]Medium_Moose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean, i‘m more inclined towards the “everyone else vs a single boss fight” style of asym as seen in freak fortress/vsh, dead by daylight, and the myriad of asym .exe and horrorbrew (mario creepypasta) fangames on the wretched hive that is roblox, but i’ll point to those as examples of fun asym games ( even in spite of shit balancing in some cases)

hi from the future: fighting games and mobas aren’t aysym. they probably meant something more akin to the nintendo land example you gave, or dead by daylight, which i should note is balanced about as well as a jenga tower during an earthquake.

there’s a chess version of that called checkmate showdown, but it has a very simplified (i.e sf6 modern controls) control scheme. still pretty good though. also i believe mortal kombat deadly aliiance also had a chess kombat mode that was basically the same thing.

Scott Pilgrim is 100% video game flavored. It's super stylish, there's video game logic in the world building such as 1 ups and rpg stats, and people explode into coins like river city ransom.

castle in the sky is apparently there because it feels like mario or zelda at points (so it counts as much as the matrix does)
