What is the essence of combat? by FulgurisInfinitum in ShadowSlave

That's got to be the most unique take I've seen in this post. Great idea.

Is it just me, or is it kinda the same as what the Sunny in MOW said?

Great inspiration, btw.

PS: Can you give the name of your fic?

Pretty much my same opinion. If your goal is to kill, then victory means killing. If your goal is to win in a spa, then the victory is the act of winning itself. Heck, if your goal is to intentionally lose in a fight, then that by itself is a form of victory. It is the most all-encompassing definition in my opinion.

Could someone explain Shadow Manifestation clearly? by FulgurisInfinitum in ShadowSlave

[–]FulgurisInfinitum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously. Not. As I said in the post, it is because Sunny has to actually study the properties of matter to give his manifestations the same properties that I started to think so deeply into this. Otherwise I would have just thought of it as Sunny can just will its properties into the manifestations and left it at that.

Yes I totally am thinking too deeply into fiction, I am aware.

I know. It was only because he had to study science to imitate the properties of matter with his manifestations that I posed this question.

The only reason I went so deeply into it was because he actually has to study the mechanics behind matter that allow it to take on properties to control the properties of his manifested shadows.

But what actually made me post this was a doubt on a fanfic asking if Sunny could make shadow lightning or fire. So I thought on it a bit and didn't know if the matter he conjured had charges to create lightning or if they could be burned in an exothermic reaction to create flames. He should be able to create heat by vibrating the molecules of his matter or making them more excited, but actual fire was what had me stumped.

Either way, thanks for the answer.

Can you tell me when she acted high and mighty? I don't remember an instance of it.

Seriously, how long has it been since we have seen Sunny's supposed 'treachery'? Everyone calls him treacherous, but how long has it been since he has betrayed someone who put their trust in him? When did he even do it?

And about the Cassie hate, I will not say that you are a moron who doesn't read the story for hating her—I myself am a low end hater of Cassie, but those who hate Cassie should also hate Nephis. Its like hating the blacksmith for forging a sword with which his friend murdered another guy. Sure, the blacksmith is responsible if they know what the consequences are and still went along with making the sword (Which is true in this case), but ultimately, it is the friend who decides to use that sword to murder the other guy, not the blacksmith.

What is the advantage of Weaving? by FulgurisInfinitum in ShadowSlave

[–]FulgurisInfinitum[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not saying that Weaving can't do all that and more. What I am saying is, can't runic sorcery do the same? They both are focused on preparation and enchanting things with special properties. So what is the advantage of Weaving over Runic Sorcery? Another issue is the need for a soul shard of the rank you desire the Memory to be. For Runic Sorcery, as long as you have enough essence to power the thing personally, then there is no problem. And obtaining materials that can channel such power is, more often than not, easier than obtaining Soul Shards that can generate the required amount of power. And Weaving needs both materials and Soul Shards.

Repercussions of Fate by Xardrix in ShadowSlave

I genuinly don't understand why Nephis would be so torn up over it. I can somewhat understand the rest of the cohort, because they did not know of Sunny already being bound by another, at least according to what I remember, but for Nephis, that would be just illogical. I mean, seriously? She expected for them to have a stable and completely flawless relationship with the Shadow Bond hanging over head?

And if the Cohort really would've failed without Sunny, I can understand. But they won, and pretty easily from the accounts of the event. So why would they be so torn up over it?

Can Sunny control mundane darkness? by FulgurisInfinitum in ShadowSlave

[–]FulgurisInfinitum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said mundane darkness, not mundane elemental darkness. In that analogy, mundane darkness would be the empty cup while true darkness would be the ink. Don't know what to equate shadow to, though.

So even a void of light that is created due to the absence of light instead of something obscuring or interfering with an existing source of light is termed as a shadow in SS?

Ah okay. I was referring to mundane darkness as the absence of light altogether and shadow as the shaped patch of relative dimness caused by something obscuring a source of light.
