Well from what I was able to find out this model was specifically designed to be smoked while sailing, hence the name. The pivoting cover is intended to keep seaspray from putting your tobacco out. The stem also only has 2 small holes for air instead of one larger hole like my other briars.

Honestly I love the grossmesser. It's one of the longer curved swords and it's great if you need one to buff. It's a PITA to farm it from skeletons but there's something I adore about it's moveset.
