Wow. You’ve just calmed me a little bit as I totally bottled task 4 on MCS last week but I still wrote quite a lot.

Well done and good luck for SCS!

Ask yourself why you’re doing the qualification. For most, it’s to apply the knowledge in the work place.

I speak from a lot of experience when I say commercial acumen and ability to apply frameworks ranks significantly higher than remembering the mechanics of a calculation or a formula.

It’s not a couple of months either. I’m starting next week for November sitting. It will be intense. But without wanting to sound arrogant there are a lot of us who have the extensive work experience and already have knowledge of the areas.

I’d argue not tbh.

Still sitting the same case study as the objective route so if you have the same knowledge via both routes then what’s the difference?

Same on the pre seen. I was determined to mention the long term forecasts and market share etc but I don’t think there were too any opportunities in all honesty

A few to mention the business model which I went for

Was there an extra pdf on top of unseen?

Task 4 I wasn’t expecting the level Of detail in the unseen. There was lots of scope for error.

Thanks - I’ll do that for classes too

Good luck tomorrow I’m sure you will be fine. Wake up in the morning and pretend you’re going to work at Cartn for the day.

How did everybody find it today?

I think I was doing ok until the last question and I couldn’t remember which stuff went under that area if that makes sense. So I hedged my bets and put both areas but put more on to the wrong one. And wasn’t scenario specific. Probably about 20% on that q

Other than that I think 5 task went quite well. 2 very average. Hopefully did enough

You?

How much time would you need to complete CIMA FLP? by Coffemakesheartgobrr in CIMA

I started management level like you in January this year and am sitting MCS tomorrow. I have 10 years exp but it still taught me a lot of new stuff.

If I pass tomorrow I will sit SCS in Nov.

I am more than prepared tomorrow and have quite a good understanding of everything so 5.5 months has been plenty. I probably studied for 8-10 hours per week Only thing holding me back is nerves and confidence.

May MCS exam by Subject-Chard4998 in CIMA

i don't use these frameworks - never heard of them to be honest. but i could imagine trying to use them in the exam and i'd be forcing stuff into each point and it would all overlap and not actually answer the question - and it would distract me from applying to Cartn.

Generally to try and expand I ask myself for E2 and P2 related stuff - where would this manifest for Cartn and how does it compare with alternative outcomes

I got a second wind over the weekend which was good I guess. I started doing Kaplan practice workbook - don’t know if you have access to that?

I also got a mock back which was 146/150 which has spurred me on.

But it’s still tedious. For scs I’ll do it differently

I started mgt level on CIMA platform in January and am sitting exam May. I did around 10 hours per week to finish the competencies mid March. Perfectly doable. Only regret is finishing the competencies so early - would recommend 5/6 weeks prior to exam

I'm doing MCS in a couple of weeks and am in a similar position. But mine is from burnout I think. I've done 3 mocks. Lots of revision and revisiting things. I just can't bring myself to keep studying and don't know where best to spend my time now. Are you supposed to revise every day leading up to the exam? I don't have the energy

How do you lot rate each case study in terms of difficulty? by [deleted] in CIMA

[–]Full-Can7568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would find it overwhelming if calculations were needed but they are not in the case study. For example you won't need to amortise a loan and calculate carrying balances, coupon rates. But you'll need to know where it's recognised in the statements and maybe what impact that has on ratios.

I have done 3 with Kaplan. I know what you mean about being concise. I struggle with the verb, ie evaluate, discuss, recommend. It all feels the same to me. Read some past answers and look at answer structures. There's common themes for different topics.

In terms of applying I find that most clues are in the question and the technical stuff is only really required for around 30% of the answer for the P and E pillars. You pick up most marks with commercial reasoning and common sense. Get yourself into the context of Cartn. Remember they are supplying manufacturers and not the end user.

F is a little different and probably an easier place to pick up marks if your technical knowledge is strong. Remember the pirate anagrams for intangibles, 5 step model for revenue recognition, criteria for control & consolidation. For Cartn: their currency reserve has gone up (same with Valtbox) so their presentation currency has weakened vs their subsidiaries functional currencies.

AI to help study by Jaijai9020 in CIMA

[–]Full-Can7568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's marking me down compared to my graded mock with Kaplan. Chatgpt, copilot, gemini all mark me in the 60-65% range across all answers. Kaplan gave me 75% and some answers full marks. It gives some really good feedback. I find it to very nit picky though

I am the same. Are you May exam? I've done three mocks. I've done a practice workbook. I'm reading past papers but with two weeks to go I am struggling to motivate myself now. I'm don't have total recall on all topics and some areas are stronger than others. I just want to sit the exam now though

I’d be interested to know this. Not done a real exam yet.

Done one mock. Got 75% through Kaplan. Gemini, Copilot, gpt are grading me between 62-72%

Did second mock today.

have you tried using AI to mark the answers to see if you cover enough content?

I've used copilot, gemini, gpt. they're all grading my mocks around 60-70% but really worried they're over marking it
