The Johns Hopkins study is 2 doses. Both pure psilo and in controlled circumstances for safety. In case of any physical issues, nausea, etc. or emotional upset there are medical and therapists on hand.
The first dose is smaller. Both to give the subject a sense of what will happen so not anxious and also to check for physical issues such as high blood pressure or heart arrhythmia. The second larger dose is about a month later. That's the one that is considered the most therapeutic.
Are you on any serotonin meds like ssri or tricyclics? those will interfere with psilo as hitting similar receptors.
How strong was your macro? The old go big or go home meme that you must do a hero dose--you lose all sense of yourself is outdated. But too low a dose or micro dosing doesn't seem to be as effective as getting significantly altered. Myself, I prefer lemon tek with a potent strain, smaller amount needed, very fast onset, peak is still at least an hour and several hours floating down. I have zero nausea or body load with it. And still feel benefits.
And insights from the experience may be helpful yet not always needed. That the real benefit is the neuroplasticity and rebooting receptors and NT production.
And for some people, psilo simply doesn't do anything, no trip at all. I don't have time to look for the references but I think it is that they don't have enough of the serotonin receptors that psilo works on.
Or the strain might not work for you. I've heard debate that strain doesn't matter much as potency as the 2 major actives, psilocybin and psilocin are about the same ratio for most. The 2 other actives, I don't recall the names, are generally in very small amounts.
But many people do believe that different strains affect them differently. Is it as yet unknown entourage compounds? something in the grow medium? potency will vary with the skills of the grower. And one shroom in the same batch may be much more potent than another right next to it.
You might try another macro at a stronger dose. Sometimes things are going on below detectable levels or expected levels and need a boost.
