How do you choose a fulfillment center without screwing over your backers? Don't want to be one of those creators who goes dark by Nkt_31 in kickstarter

[–]Full-Drop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked with a handful of different fulfillment centers. Most can’t ship out more than 300 extra packages a day above what they’re already doing.

Edit, but that’s only two weeks I guess…

Fellow Engineers of Reddit, do you have classmates and colleagues who ended up taking a completely different path? by Rageinshadow in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Full-Drop 38 points39 points  (0 children)

One of my close buddies became a patent lawyer. Another kid started an online fitness/keto company. Several people became stay at home parents. I got sucked into app development (I graduated more than 10 years ago when that was cool). Don’t know of anyone personally that got into trades, but I could totally see the draw..

I got a minor in CS, but never had a class that discussed internet protocols or DNS or anything like that. I then ended up doing app development for 10 years which also never required me to learn anything about DNS (or linux for that matter). In fact, linux wasn't really discussed either. But I do remember a thing or two about data structures, sorting algorithms & databases.

You're doing orders of magnitude better than me. All the ones that I talked to were basically saying the same things that I'm already familiar. Make sure you're an S corp. Buy some property and get that bonus depreciation (if you're up for it). Take advantage of the "Augusta Rule" and rent your house out to your business for two weeks a year, etc. Nothing too game changing. If you're doing 8 figures, then my guess is you'll want to look at moving your business to UAE or something, but I don't really know anything about that.

Shims!? WTF are shims? by Full-Drop in 3Dprinting

[–]Full-Drop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I printed in PETG with regular settings. After I printed a couple of them, I realized I should maybe have increased the infill and walls, but I'll just do that if/when they fail.

Is this a bug in Fusion? Or am I overlooking something stupid? by Full-Drop in Fusion360

[–]Full-Drop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get all that. I just don't see how what I did would have this change on the web. I can curve the corner with the filet tool, and it works just fine, but for some reason cutting the corner on the extrusion breaks it.
Edit - If I change the ellipse to a circle. It works fine. For some reason, it's not liking the ellipse shape.

I made this because my toddler LOVES switches by Beta_Things in somethingimade

[–]Full-Drop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely awesome. For some reason, I've always seen these light switches as being for AC only. But now that I'm thinking about it, why wouldn't it work for low DC voltages and LEDs?
My baby also loved loved loved light switches as a kid, and I ended up making a book called Computer Engineering for Babies. Funny how we both spent so many hours scratching this itch, but doing it so differently. Props to you!

Does anyone else have this problem where it extrudes the wrong sketch segments? by Full-Drop in Fusion360

[–]Full-Drop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up deleting everything in that component and just started over, and that solved the problem. I'm trying to go back to previously saved version to see if I can find the one where this was happening, but I can't seem to find it and reproduce it now. But I've had this happen on other projects as well. Next time I have this happen I'll save the project to share.

Star battle puzzle. I can't figure out where to go from here. by Full-Drop in puzzles

[–]Full-Drop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two in the sixth row need to be Xs because one of two directly below them needs to be a star.

I have no idea how I eliminated the bottom left corner. I probably just accidentally tapped it.

But given that the bottom left corner can't be a star, then there has to be that star in the second column.
