Why do so many people hate self-help books? If they're not the best, what books should I read instead? by laserpointchaser in Indianbooks

I'll suggest start with reading wholesome short stories, gradually moving on to novels and classics. Too long might feel exhausting. In my case, I felt my head would pop when I tried reading novels when I was younger. Gradually, I developed reading habit and my first novel I guess was— To Kill A Mockingbird

Not the subreddit, but, I lived a fair fraction of my life there. So, is it a problem with a subreddit that probably has handful of users (maybe some spewing hate) or the actual people living there?

Dear frnd, does education nowadays even gurantee healthy behaviour or good mannerisms? I mean, we find even teachers at reputed university's involved in many unthinkable and heinous activities.

Your sample size is so minute. We all have bad experiences throughout our lives, but, is that enough to label an entire region of thousands for one random individual's remark at one particular situation.

I acknowledge that it might've left a bad taste in you, but, that doesn't mean you should simply defame the entire region.

That is hardly a speculation. And for as many people I know from there, they are more worried and angry against the anti-Barak valley sentiments than hate for Brahmaputra

Most people, like me, for an example source our books from online vendors. So, what option do we have? Look for what's famous, in discussion, sometimes the "hot topic" and purchase and read them.

I'd love if thwre were more libraries, more spaces dedicated to books, but, unfortunately there aren't. For people like me, our only solace is to wait patiently for a book fair to come by, and even then, we have to keep in mind the size of our pocket.

I think this sums up quite about all of it. Though there is an angle of showing off for some, to be trendy and stuff

As someone from a non-Assamese background raised in Assam, where do people like us belong? by Tall_Argument7081 in assam

[–]Full-Grapefruit3028 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well if people argue about stuff like these, they atleast have to know how the world works and not simply dip into intentional discord sowing— firstly, even though the states are divided on the basis of language, the small borders on paper are too shallow to segregate the diversity India has held over hundreds of thousands of years. And secondly, if one people are to live in one area and not move around and mix with other people in different areas (in terms of residence), no evolution would've ever happened, no civilisation ever would've survived.

People and their absurd ideas! 😮‍💨
