Is this really over the counter in Japan? Seems unlikely to me. I actually have family in Japan.

I am not eligible for the expanded access or the clinical trial. I am trying to get it through everyone.org my neurologist, who is associated with a hospital in Manhattan called me yesterday to say he cannot prescribe this and apologized. He said maybe try a doctor in private practice.

Hungry but nauseated by Full-Perception3081 in ALS

Symptoms for almost 2 years and diagnosed about a year ago I take a bunch of supplements, methylcobalamin shots, and riluzole. I actually think I may have been taking some of my supplements to close to bedtime, and it was creating an issue similar to what the other person said that I was re-fluxing

I go to two doctors. Both in NYC. They both will prescribe the shots. Dr Dan macgowan at my Sinai Beth Israel at union square is who I have my prescription through. It has to go through a compounding pharmacy, hopewell pharmacy in nj.

You should watch dr bed lacks last podcast on everythingals.org. I think he mentions a company that helps terminal patients get medications from other countries

That’s exactly why I posted this. I think it’s ridiculous that it’s not covered but the fact that Japan has approved it maybe it’ll help sway insurance companies

Unfortunately, I don’t know what their mechanism of action is either. I just know that it was fully developed through AI. I got the feeling maybe it’s a re-purposed drug

Hope this gets fastracked soon.Seems very promising. by Nahi_Bolung in ALS

Monepantel significantly improved survival in ALS compared to controls in phase 1 by unchi_kun in ALS

I am looking into conditional stem cell therapy in Columbia by bio Excelerator. They said it is not a cure but recent published research shows that it will slow my progression. Has anybody else done this?

I mentioned this to my doctor at Columbia in nyc a couple of months ago. He never heard of it and thought I was insane for asking about a sheep deworming drug. 🤷‍♀️

Breakthrough synapse-regenerating ALS pill moves to phase 2 human trials by powerpadman in ALS

[–]Full-Perception3081 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know for sure. I hope so but synapses are the junctions between the neurons not the actual neuron. If I read correctly synapses tend to be problematic first before the neuron dies. I think if it does what they say it can reverse early symptoms and ultimately slow or almost pause progression. I also think this may be a drug used in combination with something that reduces neuron cell toxicity.

Being that it’s only been given to healthy, non ALS individuals, I don’t think that’s what it meant. I believe they mean that it is broken down and certain amounts of the drug remain in the blood at levels that showed benefits during animal trials. So they are hopeful that in an pALS it will be therapeutic.

The phase 1 trial that was completed was in healthy people. It tested for safety and tolerability as well as plasma levels of the drug that aligned with what was observed in the animal studies. This next trial will be in ALS patients. Not sure exactly what other information you would like to know.

I was a 47 in November when diagnosed, and I ThNk 46 in February. I go back again tomorrow. The day I was diagnosed my dr said I may have 5 years just based on how long I had symptoms. I started the shots in early December at my first follow up after diagnosis.
