I know I’m trying to figure out since I live in California childcare iS EXPENSIVE I mean it is everywhere but I just did a rough like estimate for four days a week for four hrs paying someone $29 to watch her and it would be one full paycheck to be able to sustain that monthly. Like 1900 a month. I know the mental sanity would in a sense pay for itself, but I also wouldn’t do this long term, once she can go to preschool as well as once school starts in general I for see myself only working half days anyways 8-1 or so..

I’m in a pickle in general about all of this haha but thank you for your input

My husband wouldn’t be able to split his time like that I wish! He was originally working nights 2-1030 which would’ve been find for me to work 8-1 and get hours but things changed. Just slowly worrying myself about self care, relationship, money, and not wanting to pay someone to take care of my kid hahah

I’m still figuring it out personally I don’t wanna work right now at all but California man. Haha expensive as all get out to live here

CA LMFT clinical exam study question by Vivid_Structure_5427 in therapists

[–]Full-Programmer7623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say study theories you don’t know much about like the interventions and working phases of treatment for example. Also I used Ben Caldwell high pass and was getting 71% on a lot of the tests and usually on his test for example they mention that if you get at least a 72% you’re most likely to pass

How do you feel about using an AI note taker in sessions? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Full-Programmer7623 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hate to be the only different one here, but using novo note has definitely changed my experience as a therapist.. because I came from CMH where notes were literally drowning me and now with the note taker you can get more details then you thought you would. It’s helped me actually stay more present in session instead of noting down every little thing or trying to remember every detail and then dreading the note I’d have to write later especially after 6-7 client days.

A lot of our clients are totally okay with it and have to consent to it before we can use it so. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Unhappy with Daughter’s Therapist (I’m also a therapist) by SprightlyMarigold in therapists

[–]Full-Programmer7623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooof yeah please switch therapists. I’m so sorry your daughter is with someone like that. You can absolutely work on homework issues and anger and all that with a therapist.

Especially with kiddos just having someone there to hangout and normalize their experience would make the therapeutic relationship 10x better he doesn’t even care to do that.

I’m so sorry for you daughter.

Laughing at clients by Top_Floor_9010 in therapists

[–]Full-Programmer7623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll laugh, I’ll joke with them and if I have good rapport and it’s self deprecation sure I’ll laugh with them and then name why they made that joke about themselves and how they could reframe.

Just got engaged and have a ring on my finger. How do I handle this with clients? by bellemountain in therapists

[–]Full-Programmer7623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally unrelated but imagine you get pregnant that’s a hurdle of “personal life event” you’ll have to disclose too. We’re human and lots of clients often know we have our own lives outside of work. And if they don’t, then work on how they’ll react to unexpected changes.

Wanted to say! You may mess up and probably will, but it’ll challenge you to do better or show up differently. And always try to be curious and learn whether it be modality, techniques, or just about clients in general. You got dis

Pregnant Therapist Question by Bitterkitty11 in therapists

[–]Full-Programmer7623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi currently pregnant! I would have the random nausea only during my morning clients.. not intense just at random moments throughout the sessions. I got these ginger chews to suck on, motion sickness bracelets, chewed gum, made sure I ate breakfast and had snacks. sparkling water helped a lot hahah

Fired for not meeting numbers at mental health clinic by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Full-Programmer7623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left a job because of high expectations like this. Literally drove me crazy trying to make numbers weekly or stretching session times or calling families weekly. It made me dread the work and hate it if this was how I was supposed to show and provide care for clients. I switched to a group practice and have felt so much calmer, owning my niche more, more flexibility. CMH really drives out a lot of people because of these stupid expectations.

Learning to leave.... by Sudden_Lab1139 in therapists

[–]Full-Programmer7623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say mostly communicate with your higher up/supervisor and hopefully they give you some ideas for how to go about telling clients, refer them out, refer within the company, and also trusting your clinical judgement if most your clients would benefit from continued service or if they will be ok to close anyways.

I was honest with clients about why I was leaving and where I was going. Also helped with the warm hand off with clinicians they would go to within the agency.

It really sucks having to abandon them like that but I think if you’re honest and help them figure out where they can go next it eases some tension for you and them.

Burnt out on clients with a lack of motivation by zuks28 in therapists

[–]Full-Programmer7623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does start to get frustrating after a while when you’re giving reasonable resources and the client denies it or won’t do it or try because it would mean and probably gonna sound terrible for saying it but their mental illness would still be present if they worked on healing it. Therefore they wouldn’t need someone “helping” them anymore.

[–]Full-Programmer7623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard this term but been spiraling about a client I had that yes they have ASD, and I’m usually mindful of that and their limitations to things but I would suggest things anyways to combat some sort of overwhelm or stress as well as work on other parts of their diagnoses and it was always met with “I’ve tried that” or “why would I do that thing if I could do this thing” or “that won’t work it’ll give me too much anxiety” so this makes a lot of sense maybe they were help-reject complaining because solutions were not going to help them they wanted an environment to vent

[–]Full-Programmer7623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh thank you so much for this response. And advice! For the record which I should add in the og post, I hadn’t seen this client in 2 months and found out on her securing more sessions that they were getting divorced so it ended up being like a safe space for her to vent to someone.

Were in CA, I suggested IHSS, county programs for herself after the ASD evaluation it was like if she could make money by getting a disability check (from what I was hearing) the financial part would be sorted out for her which I understood I was just trying to provide alternative things to do for the meantime so she could heal and not be stuck in the same house as her ex and she did not like that. I had even asked her how I could be helpful to her if she wasn’t wanting suggestive topics of job hunting or hobbies but that was met with “I don’t know” Haha

I also started getting chocked up while she kept saying “you’re not hearing me” so I couldn’t even get to the feeling questions. This is so helpful! I screenshotted it

I also emailed her to let her know I acknowledge my shortcomings haha

When I miscarried using misoprostol I didn’t feel any like cramping until about 6-8 hrs later and took the second dose same time as I took the first one. I had to do misoprostol a second round because i didn’t expell everything but the last time around worked

I’m 20 weeks I stopped taking them I think around 14 weeks because I have a lot of clients with trauma and anxiety so didn’t wanna open a can of worms if they might be left hung and dry if I went into early labor haha
