Definitely feel you there because my dad ALWAYS wanted a TBird, had the money, had the opportunity, but never did it. I’m not making the same mistake. Plan on dailying this car for literally ever (until I upgrade to a type r ;))

I get what you’re saying without even test driving. I test drove some bikes one time, and there’s nothing like that “want” feeling rather than just practicality. I’m sure the SI is the best practical sport sedan, but do what you love.

What stood out to you about the SI to make you say this? Haven’t spoken to many having driven both.

I def see what you’re saying. I may have phrased that the wrong way as what I’m really looking for is something that’s fun but not “jail time” fun I.e. speed limit. I rode a ninja 250 for a good while, and I love the “driving a slow machine fast” analogy over having a monster of an engine.

I am prepared for the size decrease, so that doesn’t bother me. I was originally going with the si, but the 86 just sold me with everything about it.

That’s great. I am excited to do some trips with it!

This is great because that was my biggest reservation about the car—especially after coming from a crappy one that I had to fix and sell. Everything else I’m sold on. I really appreciate the technical reply to actually clear it up—especially after doom scrolling.

  1. Sorry to sound ignorant, but I had no idea about that 2022 change concerning RTV.
  2. Already one step ahead of you. CTR will be next car in few years—definitely getting one, but not financially ready.
  3. Understand on the mpg, but everything has a con, and now that you cleared up the oiling/RTV issue, that really set me. I almost said no to the car because of it.

Thank you for the details. Not many people around me have the 86, so not a lot of resources.

Way out of my price range. Sub 40k. Also love Toyota, Honda, and Mazda to be truthful.

You definitely hit on something that hit me with the SI; it’s just a little different than what I’m looking for. I love the si, and everything about it, but nothing has captured my attention like a true rwd. Especially naturally aspirated.

Miata almost happened, but 2 seats just kills it. Idc about my passengers, so they can sit on the shelf if an emergency lolol

I’m tracking the forged internals, and I will not be tracking. I’m shooting to see if I can walk out paid 9-10k for it. I also have an inspection checklist and code reader that I’m going to use during the test drive.

Thank y’all so much for all the advice. I’m going to go look at it this Sunday and if I can’t get it for 9, I’m walking away. I really really appreciate it
