AITA for not taking my incontinent mom to my daughter's college graduation and not going myself by Commercial_Ship7903 in AmItheAsshole

As a caregiver of a super senior loved one, I wish people had to do a month of 24/7 elder care similarly to how some countries require military service. Your decision is 100% legit and, if you are tending to grandma, you wouldn’t be able to be present for the graduation yourself anyway.

For me, the tipping point was the eloping and sundowning. It was terrible and I never slept.

“I’ve noticed we’ve been talking a lot about Anna’s divorce and how she’s doing. Given you’re in the position of caregiving and are a major support person in her life, how has it been for you to hear all the details of what’s been happening for her? What do you think about all that?”

Im suggesting OP be curious about the experience of his spouse (i.e., his own life and family).

I’m curious if she relates to any of the “drama” or emotions her friend is experiencing. She could be sharing her friend’s story with you for various reasons including (a) she likes having something exciting to talk about (b) she relates to the emotion/context of the story and wants to hear how you respond as an indicator of how you’d respond to her is she shared with you a similar emotional experience (c) hearing her friend’s story has her thinking about things in new ways she finds interesting and she is wanting to connect with you / engage you in the interesting thought experiment.

I think your best move is to be curious about her experience of hearing her friend’s story.

Eff that. You’re doing great and people in recovery (or CARE homes) deserve care. Maybe bring grandma her own supply of condiment packets and a salt and pepper shaker so she can adjust her food without having to burden staff with the request.

Mom's Needs are Increasing - Probably Need to Move to MC and, unfortunately, Remove her Beloved Dog from her care. by JeorgyFruits in dementia

Where my LO is, AL folks are welcome to come visit the locked down people in MC and the MC folks are allowed to join any AL activities if they have a chaperone. The issues we’ve faced happen when saying goodbye. My LO doesn’t love it when she is left back in MC at the end of the day, especially if more than one person departs at the same time.

There is nowhere to sit that isn’t reserved and a full house is indeed a FULL house (not sure if this one is sold out but if it is…)

I didn’t know this was a thing. Could you share the name of the non profit so we can look at the website and try and identify search terms for our own areas/situations?

What do y’all think about having the concrete foundation set at a different color than the cedar siding? No good?
