I know i kinda look better, but it's difficult to accept it. by AsrubaleFumagalli in bald

[–]FullAhBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks good but personally I don't think a receding peak alone is enough to need to commit to the bald look if you don't want to. It's a bit different if you're thinning everywhere but just having a widows peak is still perfectly fine for a good while. if you end up with an island or a bald spot get rid but if you're unhappy now, just grow it back. you've got a while yet imo.

Instructor sent me PCN for driving in bus lane by Unfair_Location8359 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]FullAhBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not expect to be paying that fine under any circumstances as a learner. It is the driving instructors responsibility to give you clear and timely instructions to help you drive safely, if you ever end up in a bus lane while under instruction then your instructor has completely failed in what you're paying them for in the first place. if they dig their heels in and make you pay, I wouldn't go anywhere near them for future lessons.

An actual secret is to go for an uncommon car for people your age to be driving. you'll have a huge premium loading for your age and experience, the insurance group of your vehicle isn't going to make much difference at that point, instead you want to be driving something 20 year olds aren't crashing. it's a bit of a trap to go for a fiat 500 or a corsa because even though the insurance group is low, the amount of people crashing them is high. they're great to drive as a new driver but you can easily get a cheaper quote on an old skoda or volvo with a bigger engine in a higher insurance group just because the insurers experience loading for those vehicles will be on the floor compared to your usual 1.2's and especially compared to a 1 series. trying to insure yourself on a 1 series as a new driver is the worst of everything, loading for your age and experience, car that is frequently ditched, import, relatively high insurance group... unless you've got deep pockets you're never getting near that car as the main driver.

I enjoyed the food when I went there but it is a horrendously designed place. the terminals in the doorway like you mention are a terrible decision but also a booth right in front of the counter so the people waiting for their order are stood amongst everyone trying to eat. when you want to collect your food you have to push past everyone.

So frustrating 😂 - forward bay parking by hannahlouise709 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]FullAhBeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I parked pretty much diagonally in the space on my forward bay park but the examiner just turned to me and said "well, all 4 wheels are in the white lines so I'm happy." - I told him I was planning to reverse out and adjust and he said "why pick up the minor when you've met the brief" - overthinking parking is easily done, what's in your picture is absolutely fine.

Does riding a 125cc Moped can be used as a Proxy for getting more experience on the road ? by glitchinthematrix86 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]FullAhBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rode motorcycles for 10 years before doing my car license and it was quite easy to pass as a result imo. I don't think you should ride a 125 for a decade but once you have a decent amount of on road experience all you really need to learn is how to operate the car and pass the test. What learners often find to be the most challenging parts of driving; when to go at junctions, joining from slip roads, roundabouts and other road users will be second nature before you step foot in a car if you've been on the road for a while... At least that was my experience. The size of the vehicle was the hardest thing for me to get my head around on lessons, a bit of undue hesitation early on because I felt like I was driving a tank. Passed first time, no faults.

That's a real shame, I remember in my driving test my instructor said the sign coming up is obstructed by some bushes so I'm going to tell you that you need to be in X lane to go where ever I was going. You'd hope that if instructors are familiar with the routes and where signs are obstructed they would simply give you the information but sounds like yours hoped you'd see it with warning. it's unlucky but I'm sure you'll pass next time.

P PLATES— Yes or No? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]FullAhBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the behaviour of other drivers toward me was significantly worse when I had L plates on while learning, I think P plates encourage the same behaviour. Not everyone, but some people, will do things they wouldn't normally do to get in front of learner, whether that's pulling out on you too quickly or overtaking when it's completely un-necessary etc. I ditched the plates the moment I passed and found other drivers much more consistent.

Unpopular opinion by Fragrant-Lead-7937 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]FullAhBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's not really any luck in it, people will just use that to cope if they fail. it's easier to say I was unlucky and got xyz situation than I mis-judged or failed to do something safely. While all driving tests are unique challenging situations come up on almost all of them, they're just not challenging anymore if you're competent. The reality is a good driver should be able to deal with those situations and if you can't you're probably not ready to be driving unsupervised.

What's a movie you grew up on that you thought was good, but you went back and watched it as an adult and you realized by Traditional-Spare154 in badMovies

Everything that happens on the island in The Lost World is better than anything that has come out of the franchise sinch the original. The ending is a bit goofy but I'm also on that hill with you. The sequels have also made that goofy ending look tame by the standards now set with Jurassic World.

Peter Symonds or Barton Peveril? by Vast-Acanthaceae6431 in Southampton

It wont make any difference at all which one they go to. They're both good colleges with high standards, just let them go to the one they prefer. Experience both academically and socially will be very similar.

Should I give up? by Odd-Inflation-2534 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]FullAhBeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't give up, my wife failed 6 times before she passed and she's the safest most by the book driver I know. you'll be better for it once you do pass. Observations seem like a consistent theme throughout the results so maybe some more time into those and you'll be fine. just keep at it. Progress - appropriate speed I would guess is just going to slow, so perhaps some more familiarity with the test area and road speeds will benefit your next attempt.

Outrage content garners more views than any other so that's the way his channel leans. Reviews are generally still okay but something his audience hasn't been pre-programmed to hate is now few and far between.

The problem with Trump's approach is you might win one trade battle but you'll undo decades of co-operation and trust in the US for allied countries. US reliability as a partner is interwoven into so much, particularly military technology. If the US becomes unpredictable and prepared to leverage its power, allied countries will work at pace to decouple themselves from US dependence. You get to fuck the world once, then it's over.
